was so much better he would rather
send it to me in the fix I was in. I
Cook ono dose of it and was better in

me entirely. Two fellow jurors were

Teeswater,
Mr. B. J. Ferguson, M. I)., has gone
to Desboro, a village in Sullivan town-
ship, Grey Co., where he will open a
medical doctor's office and practise.
Rev. Jas, Malcolm was in town
Tuesday and Wednesday having his
household effects removed to Dutton
where be is to be inducted to the
pastorate of Knox church on the 28th.
Success this year again attended the
rifle team of No, 8 Co, (Teeswater) at
the annual regimental shooting match
held this year at Walkerton on Sept.
14th and 15th. Not only did they hold.
the McNeil Cup won last year but
they won the County Cup, given to
the team of five making the best ag-
gregate score. Not only did they win
but they won easily,
John McRae, of the 3rd con. of Cul-
ross, has a young pig that has five
well-developed feet. One of the hind
legs is double from the hock down-
ward each part terminating in a per-
fectly formed foot. The double limb
is so nearly the size of ar normal one
that it was not noticed until the little
grunter was over a week old. These
freaks are often very curious and are
not infrequent if we but learned of
their occurrence.
.A. Mr. Miller, from Berlin, was in
town during the week trying to make
a deal in connection with the Bruce
Agricultural Works. Mr. Miller is a
machinist by trade and a man of ex-
perience in foundry and machine shop
work but is not a man of capital. His
object was to organize a stock com-
pany and obtain the necessary capital
for the purchase of the plant and the
running of the business by the sale of
shares.
Robert Nicholson Purves -better
known as "Bert" -eldest son of Mr.
and Mrs. Peter Purves, of town, pass-
ed away in the forenoon of Monday
last at the age of sixteen years and
nine months. There is something
peculiarly pathetic about the death of
this young lad, as, though he had until
recently been able to be about, he
never enjoyed a day of vigor and good
health, having always suffered from a
low pulse.

set out for rats, the services of a doc-

Things are humming at the Doher-
ty Organ Factory now, 20 organs a
day being turned out, orders coming
from almost every direction. The
Doherty organ appears to be even
more popular than ever. It is
thought with their new machinery
they would surely get ahead, but no,
with their best efforts orders are still
accumulating.
On Saturday last Mrs. Hardy, sister
of Mr. H. Hibbs, Goderich Tp., had
the misfortune to lose a pocket book
somewhere in town, containing about
$35 in bills. Very fortunately for her
it fell into honest hands, a son of Mrs.
J. A. Walker finding it lying open on
the street, and taking it home to his
mother, who subsequently returned it
to its owner. He received a reward -
of $5.
These are all of the latest de-

The Clinton Thresher Company has
been formed and will in the course of
a few clays take over the plant of the
Macpherson & Hovey Company. The
new company will have a capital of
$50,000 of which a sufficient amount
has already been subscribed to begin
operations. The provisional directors
are D. A. Forrester, W. Jackson, W.
W. Farran, Dr. Gunn and C. E.
Hovey. Letters of incorporation will
be applied for at once.
Mr. D. Cantelon is one of the busiest
of men these days and is able to spend
but little time in the comfort of his
own home, his operations in apples
extending over the counties of Huron,
Perth, Waterloo, Halton, feel, Sim -
coo, Cardwell, Brant and into Middle-
sex. In all he will have over sixty
men employed as packers. Mr. Can-
telon says that over the counties nam-
ed there will not be more than half at
crop and that the quality in Huron
and Middlesex is poorest of all. Time
will, however, be almost as lunch
stock shipped to Britain and the West
as last year owing to the better clean-
up.
