THE WJN(HAM ADVANCE, THURSDAY, APRIL 6, 1905.
Clinton.
Some sixty Orange lodges are ex-
pected, to joint with their Clinton
brethren in a grand walk and celebra-
tion to be held here on the 12th of
July next, Goulinittees are hard at
work, planning and getting the nmces-
sar'ies within sight, and they hint at
having some 15,000 visit the town that
day.
A large and influential meeting of
horse fanciers met at the Mason
House last week and organized, what
will be known as the Clinton Driving
club, All present were of one opinion
that a place for speeding was needed
in town, instead of having to use the
'streets, The half anile track on the
Andrews farm has been leased and
will be fixed up for the convenience
of members.
The new hall above the Combe
block has been finished and will be oc-
cupied by a number of lodges as their
meeting place, A platforrn has been
placed therein for the head officer's
chair. Thbre is a main hall, a para-
phernalia room, a candidates reception
room and an ante room for clothes,
etc. On Monday evening the A, 0. F.
transferred their fixtures and working
tools, and five other lodges will move
shortly. -
Two weeks ago John Johnson, who
was working in the gravel pit near
Walton, met with an unpleasant and
painful experience. From the top of
pit to bottom, where the men were
working is about 35 feet, and a good
size stone weighing about five Ibs,, fell
from its lodging above and alighted
on Mr. Johnson's back just below the
shoulder blade, breaking two ribs
and caused a swelling to appear about
the size of a soup bowl.
For the third time within a week
the council has been in session con-
sidering the Knitting Company bonus,
and the best mode of procedure under
the circumstances. Wednesday even-
ing a free and easy discussion of the
matter ensued until a late hour, and it
was finally decided to hold another
session the next evening and proceed,
according to law, by making applica-
tion to the Legislature for a special
act, have the prescribed advertising
done in the Ontario Gazette and local
paper, but at the same time take the
necessary steps to have the by-law
passed in town.
Have You Heartburn ?
It's quite common with people
whose digestion is poor. Inmiediate
relief follows the use of Nerviline.
Stomach is strengthened, digestion is
madeperfect,
lasting cum..; results in
every case. Use Poison's Nerviline
once and you'll never be without it be-
cause every type of stomach disorder
is conquered by a few doses. One 25c.
bottle of Nerviline always convinces.

years.

has doubled in the last fifty years, but
in the last seventeen years Britain's
butter imports have almost trebled.
—The pay roll of the Kolehon
engine works in Hensall is $900 per
month, This industry was only start-
ed last autumn, and was granted a
loan of $5000 by the village of Hen-
-It is said that scab has appeared
among the sheep on a farm near
Goderich and also one in Colborne.
Both farms have been quarantined
until such time as the disease shall be
stamped out. The report is that the
disease was brought from St. Louis,
by stock imported therefrom.
—•Orillia is now rejoicing in the as-
surance that Mackenzie and Mann's
James' Bay Railway will pass through
that town, and it is also said that the
Canadian Pacific will extend its
Pontypool, Lindsay, and Bobcaygeon
branch through Orillia to a Georgian
Bay terminus at Victoria Harbor.
—A number of the leading farriers
of the east of Tuckersurith, the west
of Hibbert and the south of McKillop
townships have formed a company
known as "The Hibbert Tuckersinith
McKillop Threshing Co.," for the pur-
pose of conducting threshing opera-
tions. They purchased last week
from the Robt. Bell Engine and
Threshing Co., of Seafor th a 20 horse-
power engine and a McDonald Com-
bined threshing and cutting machine

thresher should put its owners in a
very independent position in the mat-
ter of threshing.
