N. Lewis, M. P. i`ur 'Vest Huron, and at that time we gave the B111 in full. The proposition to put forward the clock au hour in spring and back again in the autumn seems likely to be an effective device to increase the amount of daylight the people use. If it ehould not prove an effective de- vice, it can be dropped with little harm done. Mr. M, Y. McLean, M, P., chairman. of the Commons coin`mittee to which the bill was referred for consideration, took the very sensible course of issu, ing a circular addressed to boards of trade, newspapers, etc„ throughout the Dominion asking opinions con- cerning the bill, The circular states concisely the claims of the iptroducer of the bill, Mr. Lewis, as follows : • 1. To move the usual hours of work and leisure nearer to sunrise, 2. To promote the greater use of daylight for industrial and recreative purposes of all kinds. 3. To benefit the physique, general health and welfare of all classes of the community, 4. To reduce the industrial, com- mercial and domestic expenditure ort artificial light. A number of replies have been re- ceived to Mr. MoLean's circular,• and many Trade Boards, School Boards and business men have approved of the Bill, As already said, one beauty of the proposition is that if it be tried but should not give satisfaction, it can lie retired without much injury hav- ing been done to any person or any interest. We would call the attention of readers of The Advance to our club- bing offer with the News, Toronto, whereby they can obtain the two pa- pers for $2.35. The News is unques- tionably one of the most influential papers published in Canada, its edi- torial coinment being quoted from one end of Canada to the other, For any- one wishing to keep in touch with Canadian affairs. there is no better paper than The News. Sample copies can be obtained by dropping a post- card to this office. Canadian Divorces. In the forty years of confederation parliamenthas granted 58 divorces to Ontario people ; 19 to residents of Qile- bee ; 4 to Manitoba and two to each Alberta and Saskatchewan. The local courts have 125 in Nova Scotia ; SO in New Brunswick and 66 in British Co- lumbia. Prince Edward Island is the banner Province in this respect with no divorce of any kind to its credit or discredit in forty years. A recent bulletin issued by the bureau of statis- tics, Washington, gives the average of divorces in the United States for Wren- ty years, as one to eveffy twelve mar- riages. This is a, striking contrast to the Canadian record of one to every thirty thousand marriages. THE 'WHEAT MARKET, For the past week the wheat mar- ket has been easier and the price low. er, and the opinion is generally held. that the recent advance in price woe due more to the work of speculators, than to scarcity. Tho Advance has looked up some good authorities with the following gleaning ;-- The Montreal Trade Bulletin 'says ;— "It is difficult to understand how there can possibly be a scarcity of wheat ..with a .visible supply*in the United States of.30,203,000 bushels, as compared with 36730,000 bushels a year ago, and with a total amount in sight of 82,083,000 bushels, against 88,- 490,000 a year ago. Thera is therefore an abundance of wheat for all requires ments and an ilumense deal more, and the same conditions will exist at the commencement of the new crop, al- though the quantity will no doubt be less than at the beginning of harvest last year. But what of that, as long as there is enough and plenty to spare? We maintain that taking the actual relation of supply to demand, the price of wheat should not be above $1.00 per bushel. Nor would it have been over that price to -day had it not been for the manipulation of Patten's' corner, based upon the false supposi- tion from its very inception, that there would not be enough wheat 'to go round until another harvest. There is no doubt in our mind that the world has in its storehouses to -day, hundreds of millions of bushels more wheat than it can eat within the next ten weeks, notwithstanding the talk of scarcity." . On the other hand, the Weekly Sun says :—"Speculation,,as to the imme- diate future of the world's wheat mar- ket is at best very indefinite and un- certain. From all sources of available information, it would seem, however, that prices cannot recede very much lower than at present, unless wide and powerful manipulation is.brought to bear upon the situation once more. The fact that all grains are now quot- ed at a very high level, seem to give foundation to the deductions of Beer- bohm, the British statistician, who prognosticates a very marked narrow- ing of the world's stocks before the. arrival of another crop. Have You A Her -3 ? If you want to keep him in shape, never let him suffer pain. Rub on Nerviline; it is noted for curing strains, swellings and stiffness and sore muscles. For internal use in curing cramps and colic, Nerviline is a perfect marvel. In every good train- ing stable you'll find Nerviline because it keeps horses in trim and reduces the veterinary bill. Farmers, stockmen and all horse owners should buy Ner- viline and prove how invaluable it is. Good for man or beast. 25c per bot- tle at all dealers. Held Wheat 16 Years. The Walkerton Telescope has the following from a truthful farmer in Brant Tp. :—Sixteen years ago, an old German farmer died, leaving the farm, implements and everything else to his only son. Many a •son under like cir- cumstances has made havoc of the bequest, spending it in riotous living. Not -so with this son. 13e went on in the same old way, Wadding a little more to his belongings year by year, until to -day he is quite a wealthy man. But the kernel of the story is about wheat. When the old man died, the granary was nearly full of wheat, and that is, or was until a few days ago, in the granary yet. During all these years, he never sold any wheat, ••and only used what he needed for flour, except a little which he fed to his stock. This spring, however, when it reached the $1,10 mark, he sold out, and put teams on to draw it to Hanover. Of course, it brought him in a lot of money, but while he was fortunate in receiving a top notch price, we do not think he acted wisely or that his ex- ample would be a good one to follow. But the story `illustrates that there are" some very peculiar men in this world. Will Remove, It is now almost an absolute cer- tainty that the flrey and Bruce Port. land Cement Company will transfer its operatione pe l ns from Owen Sound to St. Marys. Ritchie & Covens REAL ESTATE AND INSURANCE - WINGHAM DANCERS OF NECLECTi INC' A SORE. NTVER neglect a cut or Sore, jl however trivial it may appear. Mrs, B. E. I3edwell, of 337, Proven. cher Avenue, St. Boniface, Winnipeg, had a small sore on the second finger of her left hand. She thought it would get right itnaidod, bath didn't. Instead, blood -poisoning set in. Sho says :--" 1 then tried poultices and an ordinary salve. These, however, did not have the desired effect, and, as the finger began to fester, T had to tall in a doctor, who Ianced it, Despite hid cart, however, it again festered, and the ointnnenta, liniments, and other preparations which the doctor gave mo seemed absolutely unable to bring about any relief. We were told of n case Similar to my own in which Zant-tJuk had effected a cure when °verything els° had failed, And we, therefore, decided to give Zatn.lSuk a trial. 1t only needed a few days to shote the wisdom of this step, The blood -poisoning and int'L n oration were reduced, and the pain berant° less acute. 1n under three weeks front first commencing with Z'atn-Buk the finger was quite sound again." FORKING men and Bfoinen-throughout the Dominion find that Zarn.Buk is, the greatest boon they can havi as a Healer of accidental cuts, burns, and bruises, as well as skin diseases. Mr. II. G. Purchase, conductor on the Toronto Street Railway, tells how this groat herbal balm benefited ,flim wheU lite root with his accident. The trolley pole of his ear slipped oft the live wire, and the reps was caught in the standard, Purchase held on to the rope until his hand was pulled up to the top of the oar. There it was held, and the rope, pulled through his fingers by the force of tho moving oar, tore and laecrated to a shocking extent three finger's, tearing several pieces of flesh completely away. Zara-Buk was applied, -and eased the pain very PSickly. Writing to this effect, Mr. urchase says :---- "1 had previously had experience of the healing power of Zetn-Buk, and the way it soothes outs and Injuries. 1, therefor°, bound the fingers 1n Zam-Buk, and it was most gratifying the way in which this balm soothed the pain. Two days after Cho accident the wounds were closed, and new skin was begin,. Hing to form over tine top. Each day I dressed the wounds with Zana-Buk, and 1 am now back again at work with the hand as sound as ever. To look at it you would never know It had been so terribly/tore and lacerated.
