The bad results of appealing to the courts to settle differences were again exemplified at the assizes at Wood- stock in the action of Young vs. Thompson, both farmers residing in East Oxford. The action was in con- nection with a field of oats, and several rods of fence, which the de- fendant had moved a few feet side- way. The land in question was about ten rods long and twelve feet wide. Practically the case resolved itself in- to a dispute regarding the location of a line fence. The value of the Iand in dispute amounted to about 18c, but the principle of justice was deep root- ed in each of the litigant, and the case went merrily on despite the advice of Justice Olute to settle. After the evi- dence was heard thedjudge decided that the plaintiff had not sufficiently established his claim, and dismissed the action, eaah party to pay his own ,costs. The costs in the case will amount to several hundred dollars, whereas the actual amount; involved was only about 18e. BABY FELL ON TO TIIE STOVE. • CEMENT! She sustained a serious burn, and her cries and screams were terrible. "I sent out to the druggist for the best remedy he had to use on a burn. tle said there was nothing to equal Zain-Jauk, and Sent back a supply. I, applid this, and it soothed the pain so quickly that the child laughed through her tears. I bound up the hand in Zam-Buk, and each day applied Zam- Buk frequently and liberally, until the burn was quite cured. The little one was soon able to go on with her play, and we had no trouble with her dur- ing the time the burn was being heal- ed. VanEgmond was in the stock yards at Seaforth and Mr. Devereux walked into the yards, when the bull attacked him. It struck him and knocked him into a mud hole and was about to gore him, when L. G. VanEgmond and Robert Winter, jr., who were there at the time, came to his rescue and drove the animal off. To their assistance and the fact that he fell into a soft hole, saved Mr. Devereux from serious in- jury, if not death. He had gone to the Thomson. farm about 8 p. m. to stir up the, fires and make the house comfortable for his son who was bringing- his bride home that day. Mr. Ingrain had pull, ed open the storm door at the front porch and was about to open the inner door when the gale banged the storm door against his- head with terrific force, and the next moment he, with the door and porch, where whisked through the air. When he woke up, he thinks ten minutes later, he found himself under the ruins of the porch fully twenty feet from the house, Mr. Ingram had a black eye and a very sore head for a few days. Benjamin Bradley, 78 years of age, of East Garafraxa, who had been liv- ing in Orangeville for the past 15 months, having retired froth his farm, is dead, on account of a seaweed grow- ing in his stomach. Six months ago Bradley coughed up about six inches of this weed which was of a dark green color. Dr. Gibson, of Hillsburg, who was his fancily physician before he came to'' Orangeville, applied the stomach pump, and succeeded in breaking up the growth. At various times since Bradley has coughed up portions of it, which has been of a semi -transparent, muddy color. Speci- mens of the growth have been sent to a well-known analyst, who describes it as a variety of seaweed, the seed of which has likely been concealed in a raw oyster, which Bradley had eaten, and the seed had ,taken root in the folds of the lining of the stomach. Bradley went against the advise of his physician, and refused to submit to an operation. He leaves six sons, John, ,Isaac, Benjamin, Wm., Joshua and Joseph ; and one daughter, Mrs. Wm. This as the saying is, is Mr. Williams' third mat-. rimoniel venture. The bride is a handsome young woman of 28, while "At 75 years of age I became so run- down and weak that I was discour- aged, I had taken many different tonics and medicines which were pre- scribed for mo without gaining in strength, A friend advised me to try Vinol, saying that it was a cod liver and iron medicine sold on a positive guarantee tb benefit or money refund- ed, I decided to do so and I am glad to say that it balls me tip wonderfully.
