A Close Contest.
Mr. David Noble who was defeated
in Brant for the deputy-reeveship by
one vote, has appealed for a recount,
and the recount will come off before
Judge Barrett at 10 o'clock next Mon-
day. The first go -off was an order by
the Judge for an inspection of the bal-
lots itt,.,.tht;•.Edar, Greva.prll, whidh
ins ection was to be held at the clerk's
inspection
office on Mondor last. The notices
had all been duly served and both
Noble and Scott were on hand at the
appointed time. The clerk opened up
the ballot box and was proceeding
with the inspection when in walked
p
Mr. O. E. Ricin and ordered the clerk
to shut up the box at once, and the
cleric promptly obeyed, leaving him-
self liable to go to jail for contempt of
the Jude's order. Then Messrs.
Judge's
Robertson and McNab acting on be-
half of Noble got 'Tansy and secured
an order for a recount over the whole
township and this recount will, deter-
mine who is to be Brant's Deputy-
reeve, Mack Scott or David Noble.
Have You Bronchial .Catarrh ?
It is easily recognized by the dry
cough and Hoarseness. Not difficult
to cure with Oatarrhozone as Mr. Xa-
vier Babin of River Capalin, Que.,
proved. "aro one could suffer from
Bronchitis more than I did. I had a
hard hacking cough that caused me
great pain. My throat was hoarse,
and I had great distress in my chest.„
Catarrbozone reached the sore spots
and gave immediate relief. Since us-
n ihave not had a singleattack.”

At Silvery Gowganda.
Reports from the new Ontario silver

that there is danger of an outbreak of
on-
typhoid owing to the prevailing con-

Fadden's Landing of typhoid fever,

and left a widow and family. The
snow is so deep and the cold so intense
that the family could noifzaccompany

On Friday at Gowganda and others
had noses or ears frozen, The miners
havin cabins have been com elled to

refuse lodging and assistance, owing
to their own personal needs. Twenty
six head of cattle, in byMr.
Courcy, Ashburnham, and four assis

strung up to trees around Gowganda
Lake and sold at 12c per pound. The
cattle were nearly frozen from expo-
sure and lack of feed. The stopping
houses, Svc in all, built for amcom-

these are; High School Act, Public

When these Acts in compact form
come before the members they will
represent hundreds of suggestions, a
few embodied in their clauses, the
most examined and rejected. They
will contain some changes in the laws
that will be iiew, but none, it is under-
stood,that will approach in their
drastic character the amendments
which the Government has introduced
from time to time during the last four
sessions. In their new form the Sta.
