—The Dominion Government is not
only threatened with defeat at the
next election by the Mail -Empire, but
it is also threatened with the biggest
lawsuit ever filed, The Bonanza
Creek Mining Co. has entered suit for
over seventeen million dollars dam-
ages, for having cancelled the conces-
sion which passed to their hands. In
the complaint the plaintiffs claim
that not only were they given title to
the ground, but they were also grant-
ed water rights, which were after-
wards annulled by the Minister of the
Interior,
Because the Laurier Government
has a majority of fib, is no reason to
argue that it will be returned at the
next election. After the general elec-

woefully shortsighted point to the rec-
ord with pride, arguing that it shows
how well off we are. The wage -earn -
or who in the meantime has been find-
ing his employment grow less steady,
and his out -of -work periods more ex-
tended, will hardly be inclined to
agree with this argument of prosperi-
ty, nor can one blame him.
If our imports were confined to such
lines of manufactured goods as we are
unable to produce within the country,
it would hardly be possible for the
workman *out of work to legitimately

opposite is the case, and he has good
ground for complainink. Despite
the fact that we are a food -producing
country, we have nearly doubled our
imports of food stuffs in the decade.
an a come o uc now a i y.
On Tuesday, Sept. 19t., Mr. D. Alair,
G. T. R. Agent, on entering the sta-
tion was surprised to find the place in
disorder, and upon investigation found
that some one had broken in during
the night, having effected an entrance
by forcing a window. The till was
broken into by forcing down the runs
that support the drawer, There was
no money in the till, and as no goods
have been missed it is evident that the
thieves went away empty handed.
The fact that the papers in the draw-
ers were scattered around indicates
that only money was sought. There
is no clue its yet as to who the' guilty
party may be. Mr. Alair reported the
matter to the officials, and the G.T.R.
detectives are working on the case.
