• We teach the " Gregg" System of
Shorthand because we know it is the
best.
It is written in one straight line
and based on the movement required
to write ordinary ionghand. It re-
quires no shadings, back slants or
vertical strokes which are " hard to
remember " and require "slackening
up " to make correctly.
The Gregg is thus easier to learn,
write and read. A speedy, accurate
stenographer is the result.
The Principal of our Shorthaifd
School graduated under the author
of the " Gregg system, and her two
assistants are graduates of the Busi-
ness Educators' Association. Yoti
are assured of the very best tuition
here.
More information in our large
illustrated catalogue, which we would
like to mail you free. First lesson
on Gregg sent free on application.
A greater demand for our gradu-
ates than we can supply.

THE COAST TROUBLE.
To the Editor of the Advance.
DEAR Sin :--.I write you because you
Imam surprised tae sorrrewhet the pact
two weeks, knowing the versatility of
your pen, which is guided by a fertile
rain. I have wondered in that you
have not commented upon, and offered
some solation of, the trouble now ex-
isting between Jap, Chine() and Vic-
torians, Being up in tray conning
tower the other evening, I threw tl,e
flashes of nay searchlight far away to
the laast, until its. rays rested upon
Japan, with its many millions so
cramped for room because of the mul-
titude of its people. Then veering
round a Little, the rays fell upon the
teeming millions of Cliina, also cramp-
ed, starving and poor. I saw theta
walking hither :unci thither, but with
eyes always turned to the westward.
They are watching ; but why do they
watch? Because they have sent out
spies to spy the land flowing with
nuik and honey. .And as they watch
they behold the spies retttruing, with
the grapes, the pomegranates and the
figs, and with one resolve they agree
to go up and possess the land. 'Then
they send out other spies, and tell
them to mark out the harbors, the de-
fenses, the waterways; find out the
strength of their navies, their armies,
and of their cities and the people who
dwell therein. As we watch from our
tower these also return, and we hear
there telling that the land from
whence they have returned is very
rich and very large, but that the peo-
ple are so few in number that they,
with care, could possess themselves of
thole heritage. Then turning my
searchlight completely round, the rays
thereof fall directly upon our own be-
loved Canada, with its peaceful homes,
well-filled barns and fertile plains.
The question arises, what shall we
do with Canada? As the Lord pros-
pers us, so will we give of our abund-
ance, but our heritage, our beautiful
heritage, no heathen shall wrench it
from us. We will bow to no authority
save the great "I Asa," Our sons and
our daughters shall not be polluted by
the idols of Baal, and if they come it
shall be to serve, not to rule. If they
come it must be by twos and threes,
not by the thousands. The number
per year shall be limited, and the law
obeyed as the law of the "Modes and
Persians, which could not be broken.
Now, sir, I am not pessimistic, but yet
with alarm I look upon the great in-
flux of these Mongolian people, and
feel the time is fully ripe to call a halt,
not only of the Japs and Chinese, but
also Doukhabors, and many others who
are undesirable and unwelcome. Now,
Sir, I will not trespass further on your
good nature, but rather would prefer
to remain, respectfully yours,
CANADA FOR EVER.

Every Housewife
Should Have
A "Universal"
Food Chopper.
It will chop all kinds of
meat, raw or cooked, and all
kinds of fruit and vegetables,
into clean-cut, uniform pieces,
fine or coarse, as wanted,
without mashing, and with
great rapidity. It does away
with the chopping knife and
bowl entirely, doing its work
in one-tenth the time, and
producing an absolutely uni-
form product. For cutting
sausage meat it cannot be
surpassed. Bold by

Aro Von Subject To Stiffness ?
Perhaps it is in the neck or shoulders.
First thing is a good rub with Nervi -
line. No more speedy remedy can be
adopted,. When applied to the mus-
cles Nerviline gives theta flexibility
and vigor ; inflammation, soreness
and stiirness disappear. "Whether in
the chest or throat nothing can sur-
pass Nerviline" writes O. B. Denton,
uinber Merchant at Oak Bay, N.B.
"Rubbed on at night, trouble is gone
by morning. I have proved Nerviline
a great medicine." Everyone says the
same, and Nerviline always makes
good, 25c bottles sold everywhere.
-The Kincardine Reporter reports
two hay fork accidents On 'Thurs-
day last ?ilr. Smith Darrell, south line,
met with an accident which nearly
cost him his life. As it was he was
badly hurt. IIe was standing watch -1
ing the hayfork work when one of the
blocks gave way and struck him in
the abclortten. The blow was so
severe that it rendered him uncoil,l
r,cious and for a time it was feared
that he haul been seriously injured
internally. On Saturday last RIr. Juo.
McLeod, 7th Kincardine, has a very
narrow escape from death. As it was
he was badly injured and for a couple
of hours his life was despaired of. He
was assisting in drawing in grain.
The hayfork at the top of the barn
pulled out of the hook and luckily
descended in such a manner as to give
Mr. McLeod a glancing blow. Two of
itis teeth were knocked out and he fell
to the floor insensible. His escape
from death was a miracle."

with the matter of the Waverley

ing it.
On Friday last Mr. D. A. Forrester
was driving along the gravel road
north towards town, and had just
reached the grade this side of the
creek by Churchill's when an automo-
bile owned in Wingham appeared on
the brow of the hill above, and was
abreast of him like a flash; His horse
instantly bolted to one side and tried
to climb the bank, and failing to do so,
it instantly bolted to the other side
and tried similar capers, ending up by
upsetting the rig and violently throw-
ing Mr, Forrester out. This all trans-
ferred in 20 seconds, but in the mean-
time the rig was smashed, and Mr.
Forrester was severely bruised.
The Origin Of Gall -stones.
They are simply dried bile, made up
of crystalline constituents of that
fluid. Very common is this disease
among merchants, clergymen, shop
girls and those of sedentary habits.
Prevention consists in rnaintainingcor-
rect action of the liver and bowels,
which is best accomplished by Dr.
Hamilton's Pills. No person using
this medicine need fear gall -stones,
nor will ,they ever be bilious. Sound
digestio, good appetite, a clear color
will evidence the health giving pro-
perties of Dr. Hamilton's Pills, which
are the safest and best for general
family use. Insist on having only Dr.
Hamilton's Pills of Mandrake and
Butternut, 25c per box at all dealers.
