—All the fighting blood of Walker-
: ton is being stirred up these days over
the much agitated Electric Light
Question. The town is practically
divided into two factions over the
matter, and the hustings are ringing
- with charges and counter -charges.
Choice boquets are being thrown from
the foot -lights and the air is thick
with the spirit of wrath.
•--During the recent electric storm,
lightning struck the barn, of Geo.
Eakett, 12th con., Egremont, and kill-
ed four horses that were in the stable.
Strangely enough the bolt did no
other damage than killing the horses
which appeared to have been hit on
the head, though before reaching the
stable it passed through the roof and
• through a hay mow.—On April llth, the death oecnrred
of a well-known and respected resi-
dent of McKillop in the person of Mr.
Geo. Henderson. Deceased was in
his usual health and had worked
about his farm during the forenoon.
On his way from the barn to the
house he complained to his son, who
was with him, that he did not feel
well. Upon reaching the house he
died almost immediately. Deceased
was in his 57th year.
Stratford, Out., April 11. — Mrs.
Harriet Dewing, housekeeper for Leo-
pold Koeller, Romeo street, was burn-
ed to death at 3 o'clock this morning.
She arose to call Mr. Koeller, who
was to meet an early morning train,
and was found in her room in a mass
of flames, all her clothing being burn-
ed off. The circumstances are ap-
parently shrouded in mystery, as the
lantern which was in the room at the
time had never been lit. A half -burnt
snatch was found on the floor, and
this is the only clue.
