A local ministerial association is in
course of formation. It will include
all the local ministers and those on
nearby circuits.
Mrs. Donald McLean, of the 1st con.
of Culross east, died early Tuesday
morning, after an illness extending
over several months.
The dry season in this part of the
province has been favorable to the
production of potatoes of good quality
free from rot, though the tubers are
not numerous in the ground.
The directors of the Culross 'Agri-
cultural Association held a meeting
on Saturday last and added to the
very complete arrangements made for
the big event of Oct. 3rd and 4th.
F. G. Moffatt, who has bought be-
tween three and four thousand barrels
of apples in this locality, started his
packers to work at fall apples on Mon-
day. The prices paid this year will
average about $1 per bbl. on the tree.
Mr. Morrow, the C. P. R. right-of-
way agent, who has been negotiating
with the farmers between Hanover
and Walkerton, says that the farmers
through whose land the road is sur-
veyed have formed a combine and are
holding out for unreasonable prices.
Sam Sturgeon, the only one cap-
tured of the three young men charged
with being implicated in the assault
upon Miss Bradley near Bervie, stood
his preliminary trial at Kincardine on
Tuesday last. He 'was committed to
stand trial by Magistrate Barker. The
McLeod brothers have so far eluded
Constable Hodgins who traced them
to the Soo, Mich.
' W. T. McDonald, B. S. A., M. S. A.,
who has been at his home on the 0th
line during the summer, has secured
the appointment of Professor of Ani-
mal Husbandry in the Agricultural
College of Oklahoma in the middle
Western States. The position which
at present commands a salary of $1,-
500 per year is an enviable one for a
young man just out of College.
While driving into town Saturday
evening, Mr. Robert Button, 8th con.,
met with a painful accident. When
at the corner of Elizabeth and Union
streets, his horse took fright at an-
other horse that was at large on the
street, and making a sudden turn up-
set the buggy and ran away. Idr.
Batton was thrown out, striking his
face and right shoulder on the bard
road and sustaining painful, though
not serious, :bruises.

It Creeps Like A Serpent.
Steals through the system like a
thief in the night. That's how catarrh
acts. Don't trifle with such a scourge.
Don't experirment with a doubtful
treatment. Time and experience
prove that Catarrhozone does cure,
that it gives quick relief and so thor-
oughly destroys the disease, that it
dies forever. Get Catarrhozone in the
first place, and your cure is assnred,
In 25e and $1.00 sizes at all dealers
and guaranteed in every case.
Ask any ' JAP" that you tnay see,
"Why the Czar, with Bear behind,"
had to climb a tree.
The Yanks, God bless the Yanks, says
he,
They gave us Rocky fountain Tea.
Ask your druggist,
It Imparts Strength.
Just think of the enormous strength-
ening power Ferrozone possesses -
consider what it did for H. V. Potter,
well known in Kingston, "I was sub-
ject to spells of dizziness. For eight
months I had intense pain it Ivy right
side between the shoulders. I was
almost incurable with weakness and
lack of vigor. Often I scarcely ate
any breakfast and felt miserable all
day. Nervous, easily excited, troubled
with heart weakness, I was in bad
shape. Ferrozone restored and nour-
ished me back to health in short or-
der." Whatever your weakness may
be Ferrozone will cure. Price 50c per
box at all dealers.
Clinton.
Mr. T. Monaghan has a couple of
this year's pullets, Barred Rocks of
last spring's hatching, which began
laying three weeks ago, and have kept
steadily at it ever since.
Mr. W. A. Galbraith, who has been
in the clothing and gents' furnishings
business for the past few months, has
assigned to the NV. E. Sandford Co.
of Hamilton, who will wind up the
affairs.
Mr. D. Can felon says the demand
for fruit from the west is greater than
the immediate supply. Dealers are
anxious to have fruit at once, and he
says it is not possible to fill all the
orders. He has over 20,000 barrels
bought already.
The staff of the Collegiate Institute
is to be reorganized, and all the teach-
ers have rrcoived notice of the ter -
ruination of their agreement on No-
vember 8th. The re -organization does
not imply that the Board will lose
the services of any member of the
present staff.
This town seems pestered with
sneak thieves. Mrs. W. G. Doherty's
house was entered recently and a
quantity of fruit stolen. Mrs. Lew
Thrower's loss is greater, for the sneak
thief carried off her gold watch. Gor-
don Cunningham's bicycle was taken
on Sunday night, but was recovered
at the station Monday morning.
The 27 months old son of Mrs. W. J.
Tozer owes its life to the promptness
of Engineer Irwin of the G. T. R. On
Monday it strayed away from home
and wandered down the track towards
the old salt block. The 5.20 train
came along with its usual speed, when
the little tot was noticed on the track.
Brakes were applied, and the engine
reversed, the engineer at the same
moment jumping and running ahead
of the enine, and snatching the child
from the -track just as the ponderous
locomotive stopped quite close to the
child.
