—Laws for the destruction of the

repealed. After spending over a quarter
of a million dollars in trying to kill it
out, stock men have accidently discover-

with Alfalfa, as a hay product. It is
nutritious and fattening, and stook will
break through fences to get at it in pre-

eight valuable head of cattle within the

one a pure bred worth at least $100. It
seems the illness is of short duration
and nothing can be done to relieve it by
the veterinary surgeons. The trouble
resembles what the old farmers were
wont to call "black quarter" and is said
to be caused by the animals standing in
wet, mucky soil and eating certain
grasses found in seasons like the present.
