Will Sanderson, who has been resting
since losing one of his eyes some time
ago, almost loot his life at Arthur on
Tuesday. He was relieving the agent
there for a day, and running out to meet
the noon traiu was struck heavily by
the buffer of the engine on the hips,
By clinging to the flag stick he escaped
death beneath the wheels. No bones
are broken, as far as ascertained, but
his limbs aro powerless. The muscles

Wiarton, Out., June 5. -The corner-
stone of the new beet sugar factory was
laid to -day by President Mills, of thu
Ontario Agricultural College, the cere-
mony being attended by a very large
number of visitors from different parts
of the country. A parade, including
friendly societies, banks, volunteers, and
fire brigade, was formed in the centre of
the town. In the evening a banquet
was held, at which addresses were de-
livered by G. M. Boyd, A. G. McKay,
the candidates in. the recent election;
Dr. Horsey, M, P., H. Cargill, M. P.,
and Prof. Milld, and several others.
Two gentlemen, who own farms some
three miles west of Cargill on the 10th
con. of Greenock, passed through Tees -
water on Monday on their way to Wing -
ham and Lucknow. There are exten-
sive beds of a fine still sand in that
neighborhood which contains a metallic
substance that looks like lead. When
tested with powerful acids, however, it
becomes extremely hard and will not
melt though exposed to great heat.
From three to four pounds of this
metallic substance can be extracted from
a twelve quart pail of the sand. There
are supposed to bo about 300 acres over
which this material is deposited and it
extends to the depth of twelve or four-
teen fent. There are also extensive
marl or cement beds in the sumo vicin•
ity.[Toewater News.
The Goderich Star reports as follows,
from a visit to a fruit -grower: -Apple
trees were fairly well loaded, pears were
plentiful, plum trees were heavily fruit-
ed, and small fruits, including straw-
berries, gave indications of a largo gath-
ering. Apples and pears had been spray-
ed twice, but plums had been treated by
another method. Mr. Warnock has
large frames covered with cotton, which
are placed under the trees and the branch-
es smartly tapped with a padded rod,
The effect of this treatment causes the
cureulio to fall and he is gathered up
and burned, Mr. Warnock gathered up
as many as 24 of the insects from one
tapping of ono tree, and the gentleman
expects to find this system away ahead
of Ipraying. We may mention that the
insects are easily collected froiu the cot-
ton frames, and are of course destroyed
by fire.
A True Nerve Tonic
Will act, not so much directly upon the
nerves as upon the digestive functions
and the abundant formation of red,
vitalizing blood. Nerves can't bo fed
on medicine. They can, however, be
restored and strengthened by assimilated
food. Tho marvelous action of lien -
ozone arises front its aCtielt over the
digestive nuc] assimilative processes.

Clerk,
Just a year ago on the 23rd of May
the Bishop was present to lay the corner
stone of the new church at St. Helens.
Since thou the building has been com-
pleted and paid for by the congregation.
Three years ago this congregation was
rated almost a dead cause, and now it is
very much alive. The church fabric
has cost in all about $2,500, and the
furnishings about $175 more, Towards
this in the twelve months the congrega-
tion have raised a little over $2200.
There are only eighteen contributing
families in the congregation, thus it will
be seen that all have done their part.
The service of consecration was most
beautifully read by His Lordship the
Bishop, after which he delivered a most
eloquent sermon, from Eph. 2.20. After
the sermon the Holy Communion was
partaken of by thirty-five persons. The
Revs. Win. Lowe, M. M. Gouldberg, H.
J. McLeod and the incumbent, Rev. C.
H. P. Owen, assisted the bishop.
The Cause of Death.
Deafness and impaired hearing are
due almost entirely to catarrhal inflam-
mation of the eustachian tubes. Per-
manent cure is guaranteed to all who
inhale Catarrhozone as directed. This
vegetable antiseptic is inhaled at the
mouth, and after traversing all the air
passages of the respiratory organs is ex-
haled through the nostrils; it complete-
ly erradicates catarrh from any part of
the system, clears the ears, nose and
throat, and allays, inflammation, con-
gestion and soreness. For Deafness,
Earache, Ringing ;in the Ears, Head
Noise, Catarrh, Asthma and Bronchitis,
medical science can devise nothing as
beneficial as Cat,arrhozone. Complete
outfit for two months' use, price 1.00;
trial size 25c. Druggists, or N. 0. Pol-

The Divisional Court reserved judg-
ment at Osgoode Hall in a Sarnia case,
in which two woolen seek to recover
$1000 insurance on the life of Philip
Crosby, who lived in that district, Both
claim to be wives of Crosby. At the
trial Chancellor Boyd held that Mrs.
Mary Ball, the second wife, was entitled
to the money. Tho first wife was the
appellant.
Mrs. Thomas Malloy, who lives north
of Wroxeter, on the 15th May celebrated
her 101st birthday, and is yet smart and
apparently good for a number of years.
Mr. Malloy is also drawing towards the
century mark and is yet able to walk to
town and attend to business. Ho says
his aged partner was born in the year
one and llo in the year seven, so it is
easy to figure out their ages.
