largest in the province, we should hove
said, "one of the lowest in the province
for a town of its size, with the same
amount of sewerage, drainage, pavement
; and hydro."
We had intended to report the speeches
as they were delivered but owing to lack
of time and space we are compelled to
merely state who the speakers were:
Mr, Fells stated that while the present
reeve was aaeused of . selling the town
machinery it was he who was mostly
responsible for that sale. while Mr.
Isbister was not in favor of the sale and
felt it was no credit to anyone. He want-
ed to know. why the bylaw had been
passed at the January meeting of the
Huron County Council' for $15,000 for
Wingham. In the absence of Reeve Tip -
ling. who had not returned from spend-
ing Christmas with his daughter at Cleve.
land, the Mayor explained. that this was
no loan to Wingham but simply . a bylaw
covering the per centage required to pay
40 per cent on the new pavement at
Wingham from the G. T. R. tracks to
the B. line. °
Mr. Greer made a dear and convincing
speech going into the matter of the town's
finances. He did not think like Mr. Is.
bister that Wingham had to take second
place to Goderich. Mr. Haney and air.
Bennett also made brief speeches.
No advance in prices 15c and 25c.
