The lovely things That last of it; Sweet thoughts and ddeed JDavidson. A HAPPY NEW YEAR. I thank you for your wish, and am well pleased To wish it back on you. —Merchant of Venice. And what is Christmas? Why, it is the happiest time of the year. It is the season of mirth and told weather. It is the time when Christmas boxes and jokes are given; when mistletoe, and red -berried laurel, and soups, and sliding, and school -boys prevail, When the country is illuminated by fires and bright faces; and the town is radiant with laughing children. LOVE AND JOY COME TO YOU', God bless the master of this house, Likewise the mistress, too, And all the little children, That 'round the table strew. Love and joy come to you And to you wassail too, And God bless you and send you A Happy New Year. —Old English. "And if thou dost well, Thou wilt fare well." On New Year's Eve, the wassail -bawl is carried from door to door with singing and merriment, to end the old year merrily and begin the new one well and in friendship. ., 1.1 I .1. 1. 1 I i iu iii aj 11.1i li I...I xv.um-wmvvtv Hanna & Co., Ltd.
