J rom the Kerrobert, Sask. Citizen, we
take.tbe following which refers to Mr, H.
A. Mutton, who is very popular in Wing -
ham where he taught for some time iji
the Lower Wingham School.
"On Tuesday evening, a meeting of the
Young People's Society was held in the
school house. The topic for the evening,
"Reform Schools," was taken by Mr. H.
A Mutton, who handled the subject
especially well, giving all the phases of the
"bad boys" life and activities at the In-
dustrial SchoDl. A special feature of the
evening and one which was of great local
interest, as the crowded room showed,
was the presentation of a purse and
money to Mr. Mutton, by the Young
People's Society. Mr. Mutton, who has
taught in the Fusilier school for some
months, is leaving this week for Toronto,
where he will continue his dental studies,
and his going will cause a great gap in the
district activities. During the few months
Mr. Mutton has been with us he has
entered whole-heartedly into the life of
the community and ably assisted in all
that was of public interest. The pres-
entation was made by Miss Elsie Sund -
vall, treasurer of the Young People's
Society, reading the following address:
"It is with great regret -that we are bid-
ding farewell to Mr. Mutton to -night.
During the past months,' he has taken
such an active parc in the life of the com-
munity and has been at all times, such a
willing friend and able adviser of parents,
as well as children, that a vacancy, im.
possible to All will be left in our midst.
"We tender Mr. Mutton our sincerest
wislirs for his welfare and success au'rin'g
not only the coming winter, but the years
to follow.
And we ask his acceptance of this litt le
token, showing in a small way, the es-
teem in which the Yoting People's Society
holds -him.
Signed on behalf of the Society.
One item of the program was of in-
terest, owing to the explanation given by
Mr. Mutton. This was the singing of the
hymn "The Church in the Wildwood."
Mr. Mutton stated that this was the first
hymn he heard the reform school lads
sing when he arrived there as instructor,
and he added that it was always of spec-
ial appeal to him, as he 'could still hear
three hundred outcast boys singing, with
all their hearts, 110, Come to the Church
in the Wildwood."
