It will he rais- ed and a number of cross pieces put under and put on a truck made for the purpose of moving buildings, and it is thought it will take only two Or three days to move it. Mrs. Whitesides, of whom we all think so highly, had charge of the devotional exercises of the W. C. T. U. meeting held at the home of Mrs. Williams on Monday at half past two o'clock. Mrs. Paulin, county presi- dent, will give a very interesting re- port of the Provincial convention held in Bowmanville last week. The sale of the old show grounds by auction was very successful. Four building lots were sold off the front and the balance in one parcel. - A good deal !lore was obtained for the property by selling it in this way, than it would have been sold for in one lump. Mr. John Deichert, Sr., bought the first lot for $t+0, and he picked on the one where the show house stands at present. Mr. C. Eit- her bought the second for $70 and he picked on the corner one next to Mr. A. Geiger's property. A right of way was reserved between this lot and Mr. Geiger's land to give free access to the land at the back of these lots. Mr. A. Heideman bought the retrain- ing two, one for $70 and the other one for $55. Ile has since sold them Ro Mr. Henry Their. Mr. Ab. Geiger bought the remainder of the land for $290. Thus the total proceeds of the sale amounted to 45115: St. Helens. Mr. Jas. Joynt had 'tis leg badly broken last week by being picked Ly a horse while drawing wood. Rev. W. ,I. Rest of 131uevale ox - changed pulpits with Rev. 4. M. Whaley last Sabbath. • An unoccupied house .belonging to Mr. Thos. Joynt was 'burnt. last :Monday evening about six o'clock. Ilow the fire originated is a mystery. .Hiss Maggie ('rawford of 'Toronto and Mrs. A. Gurdon attended the funeral of the late Miss •E, Murray.. Mr. Thos. Woods, Wheatley, is re- newing old acyliainta ees around here. Dungannon. The hoard of Public school trustees have re-engaged C. A•Tebhutt as prin- cipal of our school for 1905, giving hint an increase of $25, which makes his salary $175. Mr. Tebbutt is well worthy this evidence of appreciation. Miss Eleanor Davidson left here ori Wednesday to visit her sister, Mrs. J. Wilson, Elora. We are pleased to note that William Mt('rnslit•, the efficient and genial clerk of the township of West Wa- wanosh, has been appointed a com- missioner in the high Court of .Jus- tice. It is rumored that Mr. Rose is staking negotiations to sell his farm in Ashfield to a Mr. Smelt•rer, son Of Paul Smeltser, Lucknow. .1. G. Ward, treasurer of West Wa- wanosh, attended the meeting of the municipal council last week and was the guest of Reeve McQuillan over night. On Wednesday he went to Ripley where he spent 'thanksgiving Day with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Stin- son, who were pupils of Mr. Ward at Varna over fortyyears ago. Sunday morning week Mrs. It Au- gustine, Ashfield, met, with a bad misfortune and narrowly escaped be- ing killed. As she was returning ho- me from visiting her daughter, Mrs. Alex, Pentland, the horse which was being driven by her son-in-law, Mr. A. Pentman, Wawaposh, became fri- ghtened anh ran away. The vener- able lady was thrown from the vehtz cle and releived severe injuries. Stie was immediately taken to Dr. C'ase's office for treatment to relieve her sufferings. As Mrs. Augustine is ad- vanced in !riddle age, although not seriously hurt, the shock will have considerable effect upon her nervous system. NOVEEflBFR.24th, 1904..
