REMEMBERED BY NEIGHBORS.
A few weeks ago Mr. George A. Mc-
Intosh, of the vicinity of Whitechurch,
had the misfortune to lose a valuable cow.
Soon afterwards the idea of making good
the loss was conceived in the minds of
some of the neighbors. whose noble efforts
were brought to a successful culmination
a couple of weeks ago, when a fine bovine
was driven into Mr. McIntosh's premises,
to replace the one that had died. The
generosity of the neighbors and the spirit
that prompted it are worthy of com-
mendation.

How scarce good hardwood is getting to

in the Toronto papers. The Toronto

purpose an oak plank twenty feet long

when it was laid down to Toronto it was
worth twenty dollars. Canada cannot
