WILLIAMS. Dear husband, father,

Williams, April 22, 1931
November 23, 2014.
We thought of you today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought of you yesterday,
And will tomorrow too.
We think of you in silence,
And make no outward show,
For what it meant to lose you,
Only those who love you know.
Remembering you is easy,
We do it everyday.
It's the heartache of losing you,
That will never go away.
Loved by all — Jean, Mary, Edgar,
Les and families. 16-1p

Tax rate frozen in CH
Continued from page 1
budget compared to last year's
spending.
Rau spoke to the budget at the
meeting, saying that 48.3 per cent of
the taxes collected will be used for
municipal services, while Huron
County receives 34.9 per cent and
16.8 per cent goes to school boards.
Rau used the example of a house
assessed at $200,000 in the
municipality, which would pay
$2,623 in taxes in 2018 (exactly the
same total for $200,000 of
assessment in 2017). Thirty-nine per
cent, or $521, of that money would
go towards the municipality's roads
and fleet, while 24 per cent ($312)
would goes towards protective
services like policing, fire and
emergency services and the
conservation authority.
Eighteen per cent, or $251, goes
towards recreation services in the
municipality. Ten per cent goes
towards administration and council
costs while four per cent goes to
planning and economic develop-
ment, three per cent goes towards
the landfill and recycling and two
per cent goes to the Regional Equine
and Agricultural Centre of Huron.
The majority of the money raised
by the municipality comes from
taxation, Rau said. Over 61 per cent
of the municipality's revenue comes
from taxation, followed by 18.65 per
cent that comes from provincial and
federal grants. The rest of Central
Huron's revenue comes from fees
and charges, licenses, permits and
rentals, interest generated and other
income and casino revenue from the
Clinton Slots.
Most of the municipality's
taxation comes from residential,
which makes up 74 per cent of the
municipality's tax base. Seventeen
per cent is farmland, followed by
eight per cent commercial, one per
cent industrial and one percent split
between pipeline and the landfill.
Rau said she was pleased with the
budget coming in with no increase
to the tax rate, especially
considering that the municipality's
Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund
(OMPF) grant had been cut by
nearly $200,000 in 2018, which has
been common for many Huron
County municipalities.
Council passed the budget and the
full document is now posted on
www.centralhuron.com.
