TAX COLLECTOR / PAYROLL CLERK
The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is accepting
applications for the position of Tax Collector / Payroll Clerk due to an
upcoming retirement, and reporting directly to the Administrator/Clerk-
Treasurer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains the tax collection process by producing tax notices
right through to the collection of arrears and performs the
accounting duties related to the billing and collecting of property
taxes
• Processes supplementary and write off notices during the year
• Performs the processing of the approved employees payroll and
maintains the payroll records
• Maintains the employee's benefits under the direct supervision
of the Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer
• Processes the periodic remittances for payroll deductions, along
with OMERS reports and preparation of the T4's at year end
• Provides administrative support to the counter and telephone
inquiries as well as support to other departments during peak
periods
• Provides back up for the Deputy Treasurer in their absence
• Other various duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Related work experience in a municipal environment a preference
• Excellent computer and record management skills
• Business Administration in Accounting a preference
• Ability to deal effectively, courteously, and tactfully with the
general public
• Well-developed oral and communication skills, writing skills, and
organizational skills

operations of the Public Works Department.
The Landfill & Roads Operator is responsible for a safe and orderly
landfill site and provides general services at the Landfill Site in
accordance with departmental policies and procedures. In addition,
the Landfill & Roads Operator is responsible for performing a variety
of public works tasks in the Township of North Huron, using heavy
equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Council
freezes
payment

North Huron Council
remuneration will remain static until
the next session of council revisits
the issue.
The decision followed the
presentation of a report from Clerk
Richard Al that showed that North
Huron has some of the lowest per -
meeting rates, but highest honoraria
for council.
Looking at only the bottom line
can be misleading, however, as Al
points out. "It is difficult to set a
standard as municipalities pay
differently," he said. "North Huron's
honorarium covers two meetings per
month. Other municipalities give an
honorarium and then pay a per diem
for those meetings."
The annual honoraria council
receives includes $9,980 for Reeve,
$7,879 for Deputy -Reeve and
$6,828 for councillors. Those
numbers are all above the county
average (minus Goderich, who pays
significantly higher honoraria). It
