Nearly 350 locals on Ontario `Sunshine List'
The province's "Sunshine List"
was released late last week, which
includes more than 335 local public
sector employees from
municipalities, school boards and
publically-funded entities.
The list outlines all public sector
employees who made more than
$100,000 in 2017. For many years,
there have been requests of the
government to change that amount
as it has stayed the same since the

under Progressive Conservative
Prime Minister Mike Harris.
According to government estimates,
if the list were annually adjusted for
inflation, the threshold would now
be $151,000.
The highest-paid individual in the
province is Ontario Power
Generation Chief Executive Officer
Jeffrey Lyash who earned more than
$1.5 million last year.
Locally, the Huron -Perth
Healthcare Alliance (HPHA), which
operates several local hospitals,
includes 44 individuals on the list,
up from 36 last year.
Associate Pathologists Sharyn
Smith and Barry Sawka, who both
received salaries of $309,860.07 last
year, were the highest paid
individuals in the organization. They
are followed by HPHA President
and Chief Executive Officer Andrew
Williams who was paid
$294,859.62. Ken Haworth, Vice
President of Performance and Chief
Financial Executive is next on the
list, having earned $177,898.52.
Goderich's Alexandra and Marine
General Hospital (AMGH) once
again has 10 members on the list led
by Bruce Quigley, Chief Executive
Officer and President of the
organization, who earned
$169,950.05 in 2017. Samantha
Marsh, AMGH Chief Nursing
Executive and Vice President of
Clinical Care Services, is next on the
list, having earned $118,948.53.
Third is Chief Information Officer
and Vice President in charge of
Corporate Services Jimmy Trieu
who earned $115,493.31.

The Wingham Hospital, part of the
Listowel-Wingham Hospitals
Alliance, has six individuals on the
list, one more than last year, led by
Registered Nurse Deborah Ritchie
who earned $114,098.46. Registered
Nurse Ashley Horton-Schnur, who
earned $108,795.27, is next,
followed by Radiology Technologist
Elaine Hiusser who earned
$107,473.37.
The Listowel Wingham Hospitals
Alliance CAO Karl Ellis, while
technically assigned to Listowel
Memorial Hospital, earned
$190,087.11 last year.
The Township of Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh has one
individual on the list, Administrator
Clerk -Treasurer Mark Becker who
earned $115,974.65 last year.
North Huron has a total of six
individuals on the list, down from
last year's seven. Of the six, five are
active municipal employees and one
is retired. Wingham Police Sergeant
Murray Foxton is the highest paid
individual in North Huron with
$128,822.17. He is followed by
Chief of Police Tim Poole who
earned $115,234.46 and Police
Constable Kevin MacAdam who
earned $112,273.51. All five active
list members are Wingham Police
Officers and their salaries are
wholly covered by Wingham
ratepayers. The only member of the
list paid for by all North Huron
ratepayers was retired Director of
Corporate Services/Clerk Kathy
Adams who earned $102,292.39.
Huron East's Chief Administrative
Officer Brad Knight is the only
municipal employee from Huron
East on the list, having earned
$121,920.65. Likewise, Central
Huron's Steve Doherty, Chief
Administrative Officer, earned
$115,008.47.
Morris-Turnberry's Administrator
Clerk -Treasurer Nancy Michie is the
higher of two municipal employees
on the list, having earned
$128,235.30. Chief Building
Official Kirk Livingston is the only
other municipal employee from
Morris-Turnberry, having been paid
$109,071.62 in 2017, however
Livingston's services are split
between North Huron and Morris-
Turnberry now and, last year, he also
covered Howick.
The Huron -Perth Children's Aid
Society has 13 individuals on the list
again, led by Executive Director
Shaun Jolliffe who earned
$163,461.51 last year. Second is
Maxine McCaulay, Director of
Service, who earned $143,059.63.

All dogs must be licensed in compliance with By-law No. 80-2013.
A copy of the complete By-law is available for review at the
Municipal Office.
All dogs must be identified by means of a tag and licence, issued
for a (1) one year period by:
Friday, April 27, 2018
The fee schedule shall be as follows:
1. All Dogs (except those listed in #2)

eligible for registration under the Animal Pedigree Act)
4. Late Payment Charge $20.00 per dog
(Shall be assessed in addition to the licence fee,
if the licence and/or tag is not purchased by April 27)
Excrement:
The By-law requires dog owners to forthwith remove excrement
left by a dog, from property other than the premises of the owner
of the dog.
Any person contravening this provision is subject to a $125 fee.
