The Brussels Curling Club held its
awards and social evening on Friday
night at the Brussels, Morris and
Grey Community Centre in the
upstairs meeting room. The group of
over 30 gathered for a social time
before enjoying a delicious potluck
meal, a fare of many choices for
all.
Outgoing President Don Chesher
started the evening by thanking the
many folks who made it a successful
season for the club. He started with
those who came out to paint the ice
at the beginning of the year. Thanks
to Mery Bauer, Brian Warwick,
Karen Uhler and Jeff Cardiff.
Next, he thanked those who
provided bartending duties after
games on the Monday evening
including Mery and Donna Bauer
and Carman and Mary Bernard. This
all helps in keeping our costs down
when volunteers paint and bartend.
He thanked the club members who
worked very hard to make the
bonspiel a great success, including
Steve for finding enough teams (20)
to fill the bonspiel. He thanked Jo-
Ann McDonald for organizing the
meal and for all the extras she did,
and the members who approached
the businesses to collect the many
great prizes, including Carman, Jeff,
MaryAnn Thompson and Dona
Knight.
Curling can't happen without
rocks and he thanked those who
came early on the Monday evenings
to put the rocks out for play, as well
as pebbling and nipping, and
sweeping the ice prior to play.
Thanks to the strategic planning and
social committee of Matt Cardiff,
Jannelle Caldwell, Gary Pipe and
Jennie Schimanski for doing a great
job with the many interesting and
fun ideas incorporated into the
nights of play, during and after. They
welcome Danica to the committee
for the upcoming year. Don
introduced Steve Steiss to announce
