(Denny Scott photo) Yuk Yuk's event set By Shawn Loughlin The Citizen On Saturday, Feb. 10, the Brussels, Morris and Grey Recreation Board is hosting a special Yuk Yuk's night at the arena to help raise money for needed improvements. The stand-up comedy night takes the place of the board's popular ladies night, which had proven to be a successful fundraiser in recent years. The Valentine's Dinner and Show begins at 5:45 p.m. with a social time, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and organizers are encouraging those interested to buy their tickets by the end of the month. Nicole Noble, Chair of the Brussels, Morris and Grey Recreation Board, said that the Yuk Yuk's night is an attempt by the board to switch things up a bit and change direction from the ladies night. That's not to say, however, that they won't return to the popular format one day, they just decided to take a year off. Trish Barbour will be catering the meal, which will include roast beef, stuffed chicken breast, oven -roasted potatoes, vegetables, salads and dessert. For more information or for tickets, call the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre at 519- 887-6621 or Nicole Noble at 519- 531-0484 or e-mail community centre staff at bmgcc@ezlink.ca. Once the Valentine's dinner is in the history books, the board's next event will be a painting for kids day on March 14. Children aged 5-7 will be invited to the community centre between 10-11:30 a.m. and then those from 8-12 will be from 1:30-3 p.m. The day will cost $25 per child. Supplies are included and each child will create a painting they can take home. Fry masters Randy White, left, and Jim Brown were two of the three- member wing team working early in the evening at the 'Kick Up Your Plaid' event on Saturday. The event, the Legion's version of Robbie Burns night, featured prizes for best Scottish attire, meat draws and karaoke alongside Scottish wings and fries.
