Sandra's message to the
congregation was "Why Don't We
Listen?" We often don't listen
because the words that are being
spoken do not mean anything to us.
In the scriptures, Samuel's mother
had put him in the care of a priest.
Samuel looked after the priest and
his needs for his keep. Samuel heard
a voice in the dark of night and went
to Eli to see what he wanted. Eli told
Samuel that the next time he heard
the voice to answer, "Here I Am,
Lord speak your servant is
listening." Eli wanted to know what
God had told Samuel.
The next hymn was "I Am the
Light of the World" followed by the
receiving of the offering, the
offertory response "What Can I
Do?" and the offertory prayer. The
hymn "God Our Protector," to lead
into prayer, was sung. The prayers
for the people was followed by the
singing of the Lord's Prayer.
The last hymn "I, the Lord of Sea
and Sky" was followed by the
benediction and the singing of the
response "May the God of Hope Go
With Us." Everyone was then invited
for coffee and fellowship.
The duty, the privilege, the safety, the unspeakable happiness!
(John Newton)
"Looking unto Jesus!" Hebrews 12:2
Look unto the Lord Jesus Christ!
Look unto Him as He hung exposed, wounded, bleeding, dead, and
forsaken upon the cross!
Look unto Him again as He now reigns in glory, possessed of all power
in Heaven and in earth, with thousands of thousands of saints and angels
worshipping Him! And then compare...
your sins --with His blood,
your needs --with His fullness,
your unbelief --with His faithfulness,
your weakness --with His strength,
your inconstancy --with His everlasting love!
If the Lord opens the eyes of your understanding, you would be
astonished at the comparison!
"Looking unto Jesus" is the duty, the privilege, the safety, the
unspeakable happiness, of a believer --are all comprised in that one
sentence!
It is by looking to Jesus, that the believer is enlightened and strengthened,
and grows in grace and sanctification.

Building Supplies will be open.
"We're doing an inventory
reduction sale," he said. "We'd
rather sell everything than count it."
He said there are a lot of items for
him to get out of the store and the
surrounding buildings before they
turn it over to the new owners.
Courtney said the decision to sell
was inspired by a number of factors
including him turning 65.
"I see other people getting out of
their businesses or retiring and I
thought maybe it was time," he said.
"Though I'm not technically
retiring."
Courtney, alongside his daughter
Elisha Courtney-Haak, who has
worked at the family store for years,
will both still work at the new store.
As for future plans, Courtney said
it will take him awhile to figure out
what he can do with himself.
"I want to spend some more time
with the grandchildren and maybe
have a little more me -time," he said.
"There are also a lot of things to do
at the family farm. I want to build a
bridge and a cabin and there is some
other work to do."
Courtney said he would take a year
to figure out his options, but after
that, he wants to see Canada. While
there has been some discussion about
heading west with Chris, Courtney
said he wants to head east.
As far as the new store, Courtney-
Haak said the new owners will have
a different way of doing things, but
may be able to offer more products.
"It will be good and there will be
some big changes," she said.

RETAIL BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY
For an agency store in BLYTH
LCBO RFP #2018-205 BLYTH
An excellent business opportunity is now available to established retailers in Blyth.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) is seeking a responsible,
customer -focused retailer to operate an LCBO Agency Store in Blyth.
To qualify, the applicant must have an existing, currently operating retail
business in the community and commit to operating the Agency store within
established LCBO guidelines. To facilitate the sale of beverage alcohol
products, the operator may be required to enter into separate commercial
arrangements with the LCBO and domestic beer suppliers. The successful
applicant will also be required to participate in a special LCBO server -training
program to ensure the responsible sale of beverage alcohol products.
Since 1962, the LCBO has authorized more than 200 Agency stores to serve
communities that have requested service but where the local population is
too small to support a regular LCBO or beer store. These Agency stores are
operated by local retailers within their existing retail business. Agency store
contracts are normally awarded for a five-year term. In communities where
there is currently an Agency store, as the contract nears expiry, the LCBO will
take into consideration the fact that new businesses in the community may
have been established and will allow an opportunity for all businesses in the
community to compete for the next five-year term.
Operating an LCBO Agency Store provides a retailer with an excellent
opportunity to increase revenue and attract customers while providing local
residents with beverage alcohol services. Agency stores also deliver economic
benefits to the community in many cases through job creation and increased
customer traffic for local merchants.
For this competition, the LCBO must receive requests for the application
package from interested businesses by mail before end of business day
Friday, February 2, 2018. The application requests must quote the
