Three inen had a. narrow escape
from heing perhaps fatally scalded at
the electric light works one afternoon
last week. lir. Green, Walter Rose
and Walter Bell were on top of one of
the hollers making eonnection between
two boilers. There were 105 pounds of
Steam on at the time and when the
connections were nearly made a part
of the pipe broke off close to the boil.;
et, The result Was that the boiling
water and steam rushed out of the
inch and a half pipe at a terrific rate
until the boiler -was nearly emptied.
Mr, Green was badly scalded on his
arms, the others almost stunned. *He
rolled off the boiler, a height 'of ten or
twelve feet, and. was followed by Wal-
ter Bell, When • they • got gut they
looked for Walter Rose and found that,
he had. fallen at the boiler but had
managed, by duping on his hal*
• and knees, to get out of the steam. in-
to the open air. Mr, Green says that
