embarrased vvheir on answering .a

1.'he annual harvest thanksgiving
service . of Trinity enurch was held
last Sunday. It is not saying too
much when wa state that this service
was the best in many years and the
offering the best on record. On Sat-
urday a willing band of workets at.
tended and arranged the decorations
which were very pretty and tastefully
gotten up. A spirit of genuine enthus-
iasm prevailed. The devotions of the
congregation were evident on Sunday.
In one particular part of the work
the success was owing, te the energy
of the wardens, while the people res-
ponded well and hearty. The offering
320r:tented t over Ilao and as this is
the largest on an occasion like this it
speake volumes for the liberal spirit
of the congregation. There are not
many town churches exceed this offer-
ing and credit is due the people in the
lull sense of the word. 'fills congre-
gation is taking a lively interest in
their church and have realized the
truth that to give to •God is as much
a part of worship as prayer and
praise. This is not the first time

MARKET.
The raPictly growing importance of
Cauadaas a factor itt. the wotld's
business is nowhere more marked than
a in connection With dairying, The 'ex-
ports of butter from Montreal this
peason are about' three million'Pounda
itt excess of the exPotts for the like
period last year.: Our • clietiae deports
this season are some eighteen ,and one
half -million pounds greater than for •
the like •period last year.
But despite .this enorrnoua increase
in our output the consumptive market
in Great Brateinle not glutted ; on -
the coetrary the price of our cheese
there today is just a little higher
than it was this,ti'me' twelve months
ago. The cause of •this keen demand
in lititain, in the Seat of enlarged pup -
plies from Canada, is found in part in
decreased production in Great Britain;
part is found also in the falling off
in the surplus available for export
train the United Status. The cheese
exports of the United States, small
as they were • before in comparison
with those of Canada, shoe; a. decline
of nearly one third this season as
compared with last. In feet, the pre.
diction is made that the United States
instead of being an exporting nation
in the matter of cheese will very soon
be ati importing one. Thus, if Canad-
ian dairymen keep on improving in
their product, Canada will not oaly
furbish all the butter and cheese ex-
ported from North America to Europe
but will secure as well a considerable
inarket even on our own continent,
