his left hand taken off on Tuesday af-
ternoon while operating a boring ma-

ed the 69th anniversary of his birth.
day. He was born in Durliern, Enge
land, came to Clinton in x854 and
is an eucyclopaedia of early events.
He is hale and hearty ahd looks good
for many a year to come.

Mrs. Fred. Crich of Ypsilanti, Mich„
has been spending the past week 'with
her brother, Mr. Be, Churchill, and
while here inscl her photo taken along
-with that of her mother, Mrs. John
Churchillayho has reached the veners
able age of ninety four. These two
photos will be grouped with those of
Mrs. Crich's (laughter, grand -daughter
and greatsgrand-claughter, latticing Aye

Oliver, the eighteen year old son of
Mr. Robert MeIlyeen • of Watford,
formerly of Stanley, died .on Sunday
after only a couple of days illness.

Oliver was a bright boy and had
been pursuing his studies with, the

IVIr. Grigg was a member of the first
brass band, organized in x8e6, and
which played that fall at the first ag-
ricultural show ever held itt Clinton,

. It took placeon the property where
Jackson Bros' and W. Coats' stores
non, stand and was not a very impos-
ing show, but everybody turned out
for miles around to see what there
was of it and the band enlivened the
proceedings. In addition to Mayor
Jackson, S. G., Plummer and himself
there survives Mr. Sandy Dodds,
• brother of Mr. William Dodds of town,
who has, • been in the West for years
. but recently pail his oldfriends here
it visit.
Iltr. Grigg has not attempted to
pray a " liotti" for years but his in-
terest in musie and the band remaitis
undiminished and no citizen will . be
better pleased to see an efficient town
