ning, of the 12th von., sold last week to
Mr W Doherty, of Viinton, a thoro-
bred heifer two years and four neonths
old, of the matchless strain, for the
handsome figure of three hundred dol.
lars. Mr Manning purchased this
heifer and her dam two years ago lasb
fallfor ninety dollars on twelvemonths'
credit, and eold the dam in time to pay
(and for enough) to pay the note when
due, so that he had the price of the
heifer for the feed and trouble,

maple syrup taffy purr was the fun in-
dulged m by some some fifty Yining
people at E, Jones', Huronaoad,on last
Friday night. The evening was spent
in songs and games and it was two
o'clock before the merriment abated,

aged 83 years, occurred on Wednesday,
April 2nd,- Born in county kayo, Ire-
land, in 1819, he came to Canada in
1831 with his parents, 7 brothers and
2 sisters, settling , neer Kingston. Of
this large family, two brothers sur-
vive. Mr Lyon's early life was spent
in lumberingalong the Ottawa and St.
Lawrence rivets.In 1846 he was Mar-
ried to Mary Lyiiett,who died seven,
years later, leaving two 'sons and one
daughter. In 1816 he married Jane
Qiiinn; by this:union there were seven
