husband was killed in the electric plant
running in connection with the grist
mill, a policy having just been taken
out a week previous to the sal event.

TEIS BUS UPSET. -One night last
weer when making- a call after
the late train, . the Rattenbu, y
hue happened with au upset..
it got off the regular track and
One side sank into the soft snow, which
occasioned the mishap; fortunately no
one was hurt. • A despatch. to Satin'.
day's Globe somewhat exaggerates the
fact, but we suppose it was sent more
for a joke : "As the Rattenoury 'bus
was returning from the sta ion with
passengers from the late train last
night it got off the beaten track and
upset. Mr John Bamford was thrown
violently:on his back against the glass
window, which broke, and two other
passengers fell upon him. Although
taken up_insensible he only sustained a
few slight cuts and bruises, , The other
passengers were only shaken up."
A QUESTION' OF DELICACY -.--
The attention of temperance workers,
part icula,ly members of the W. C. T,
U., is directed to a double -headed
art icle entitled "Saloon Man Outprayed
'Em,"on page three of last week's NEW
ERA. The article originated in a Yan-
kee psperof the style ofthe Detroit Sun
and Chicago Blade. Several weeks ago
The News -Record was requested to pu-
lish it, but refused to do so. The ladies
m of the W.. 0. T. U. will dobbtlesa
• appreciate the delicacy and gond taste
of the article. -News Record. \ [ We do
18 not believe the ladies of the W C. T. U.
are so thin-skinned as to be troubled
very much over the item, mere espec-
as it was prefaced by a paragraph ex-
plaining its publication. the ladies will
doubtless appreciate the delicacy and
good taste of receiving any advice from
the editor of the News Record.

The Craze of the Hour
It bide fair to be as popular in this country as
in England, whence it comes; all you need is the
diningroom table,a little skill andgood company..
In the United States and England it is a social
craze of,such dimensions that associations have
been formed under distinguished patronage,
Our King is reported as much interested in it.
Championships are arranged and tournaments
held in old London where one firm alone is said
to have sold 1,000,000 sets in 3 months. It is
practically the game of Lawn Tennis indoors, to
be played by 2, 3, or 4 persons, See it in our
