This purchase makes splendid addition to an already fine herd of fully accredited shorthorns. The Ladies' Md of Knox Church will held their annual supper on the 14th of tebruary. The program will consist of a play given by the young people of tanox Church, entitled "Mother Mine" The annual conrtegational tweeting of the United Church was held on Saturday, January 25th, with a large attendance. The teports given by the different organ- izations showed advance which was satis- factory to all. There was a Ladies' Aid Society organized. The officers which were elected were:—Mrs, R. Townsend president; Mrs Moon, 1st Vice President; Mrs. Adams, Mrs, W. Allen, Miss Mary Wood, Vice Presidents. We wish tide so- ciety success as it is needed in eonnection with church work. The program consist• ed of a quartette by Mr. and Mrs. Robt, Townsend and Mr. and Mra. E. Adams which was well rendered; also aduet by Mies Snell and Mr. M. Iiottzsaone was enjoyed by all. The solo of Mr, Bert, Grey was much appreciated. Luo, h was served and a veru enjoyable and profit- able time spent by all, On Wednesday morning, January lath, there passed away in Palmerston Hospital Thomas Sampson, in his 55th year, De- ceased was a native of Devonshire, Eng coating to this country at the age of cigh• teen years. For a few years he waked on lame in the vicinity of Landeebarn and in the year 1898 he started on the Old Grand Trunk Railway at Londesboro as sectionman, One year later he was pro- moted to the position of section foreman, which position he filled until five years ago when be was appointed roadmaster over the Durham, Newton, Kincardine and Southampton subdivisions with head- quarters at Palmerston. In idaa he mar - lied Mary Elizabeth Lyon, who survives, along with three childreu, Mrs. W. D. Galles, of Niagara Fails, Ont-, Susie, at home and Fred., of the C. N, R, at 'Tor- onto. Ile also leaves four sisters, three of whom reside in England, and Mrs. Ed- ith 13a11, of Clinton, A short service was held at his late residence on Thursday ex- etung conducted by Rev.
