Theivntial :Meeting of Blyth Agricul-
tural &tidy was held on Friday after-
noon with a fair attendance notwith-
standing the inclement weather,
President Jas. Brigham opened the
meeting and after the minutes were read
the financial report was presented. This
report showed that during the past year
the fair was a success in point of exhtbits,
but lacked in gate receipts in comparison
to the demand for price money. Whlle
the g ite receipts were little better than
the average. the society had paid out• up-
wards of 1300 in speed events. The small
increase in attendance don not warrant
this outlay nt money, and in consequence
the society wound up the year's business
with a small deficit.
Considerable discussion ensued as to
the advisability of continuing the fair at
Blyth, but concensus of opinion seemed
to be that the society might prosper with
the elimination of the speed events as the
t return from this outlay was not commen-
surate with the outlay. However, the
matter was left in the hands of the new
directors and a spicial meeting will be
held on nday, Feb, 7th, when the mat-
ter will be discussed,
