Snell celebrated the fiftieth ennivet-
eery of their wedding day, 'There were
present about eixty pelsons, nearly
half of whom were children and grend-
children. Rev. Mr. Andrews, wife and
daughters of Varna were itt•esent and
added greedy to the enjoyment of the
day. Mr. Ephreint Snell was the only
gust preeent who attended t heir for-
mer wedding. Mts. J. Holmes of
floirneevilte ant! MIs. A. Woodman of
Londesboro, who witnessed their mars
Heine, were invited but were unable U.
attend. . The remainder of the guests
were chiefly nephews mid nieces. Mr.
and Mrs. Snelt are among the most
highly respected settlers of Hulled:,
having lived the whole fin y years on
the sante farm. A flintily of ten have
been theirs. eight of whom are still
living : Edward in the N. W., Jaillbel
'near Blyth, George of Londeshore,
Humphrey of Ballet t, Mis, Elsley nt
Colborne, Mrs. Joseph Snell of Hullett,
Miu.y and William at home, After
partaking ot a most exeellent, dinner a
program was rendered by the guests,
consisting or choruses, duets, recite.-
tions,speeches and instrumental music.
At 12 o'clock noon the honored couple,
standiqg beneath the mistletoe bsugh,
were addressed by Rev. Mr. Andrews
in a few words. He, however; con
sidered it unnecessary to renew their
covenant, having kept it so faithfully
for fifty years. Miss Andrews presid-
ed at the organ and played tite wece.

others being two beautiful adjustable
chairs and a handsome couch presented
by their children, also a gold -headed
cane and gold -rimmed spectacles by
their nephews and nieces with the

One day last week while Master John
Petty, eldest son of Mr. Oliver Petty,
Was playing at school he had the mis-
fortune to break a small bone' in his
instep. He will be laid up for a month
or so. He has our sympathy.

Mrs. B. S. Phillips, were driving
through Hensall their horse took
fright and ran down the Street. The
buggy was upset, throwing its occu-
r ants out. Mrs. Phillips got her arm
caught in the top of the rig cvhieh
drew her some distance and had it, not
been for the pluck of the boy, who held
on to the lines, a serious itccident
might have happened. However, the
boy got his artn broken. The others
received slight injuries.
Mr. and Mrs. Elam Butt of the Lon-
don Rdad, accompanied by the lattet's
brother, Mr. Htlmphrey baymond of
Manitoba, visited at Mt. J. H. 'Petty's
Init. week. This is about, the first time
Mr. Butt has been out for a couple of
years owing to the Stroke he received
about two years ago,
Mr, George Thotnpson left these
parts for the Northwest on Monday
last and his wifeand family left it few
days after. We wish them prosperity
in their new hritne.

spent's' day with Mr. J. H. Petty last
week. This latter gentleman has been
on the sick list for a few day.

Year's eve. The contracting parties

tremely stylish in her travelling suit, of
pearl grey, with hat to match, trimmed
with darker shade and honitore lace.
The suit was trinineed with two bands
of pearl grey satin about two inches
deep, ench band being stitched in rows
to imitate silk braid. The handsome
bolero jacket was slipped over a beauti-
ful waist of rose colored satin, trimmed
with valenedennes lace. The toque was
