HOLMES .0( tint44$4 FRIDAY, AUGUST 80, 1901 A .conference MLR held at Glasgow last week to consider whether steps should be taken or not for the retrieval of the restrictions affecting Canadian cattle. It was unanimously agreed that the restriction e were no lonet' necessary and ought to be removed. Certain discrepancies may -be rioted in the census figures. In the ten yeers our population has gained 104 per cent. upon the figures of 1891. The number of families has increased 13 1 per cent.,over the 1891 figured, and the dwelling houses have increases by 14.7 per cent. It is singular that the houses and the families should increase so much more rapidly than the iedivi- duals who comprise those families and inhabit those houses.-Teronto Globe.
