'Montreal, July 29.—There were about
750 head of butchers' cattle 200 calves and
400 sheep and lambs offered tor sale at the
East End Abattoir to day. The butchere
werepresent in large numbers, but trade
was slow and prices decidedlylower all
around, pretty good beasts being nearly
1-4o per lb lower than on last week's mar-
ket. Mr G. Martel bought: ten prime
steers at from 4 340 to nearly 5o per lb,
Mr George Nioholeon bought 25 good cettle
at 4 1-2o per lb, pretty good stook sold at
from 3 1.2o to nearly 4 1.2o per ib, and the
common dry cows and thirty young stook
bought from 2 3-4o to 3 1-2. while the
leader beasts Old at about 2 1-2o per lb.
A conaiderable number of the oattle will
not be sold to -day.. Halves sold at horn
$2 to $10 each, . Mr Levesque boneht
seven good calvee at from S6 to S10 each;
he also bought 35 good Iambs at $3.50
each; Shippers paid 3 1-4o per lb for good
large sheep, and the butchers paid from So
to 3 3-8 per lb for the others. Lambs sold
at from 5250 to 14.25 each. Fat hogs are
• lower in price and Bold at from 6' 1.2o to
a little over 7o per lb. .
