DEA.TR.-We *regret to record the
aleath of Albert Armstrong, who died
in Toronto Hospital last Thursday. Mr
,Armstrong was tnail carrier between
Ilipiesing and Potsawausa, when he
met with an accident which caused his
'death. The funeral took place from
the residence of Mr and Mrs Searle's on
Saturday to Ball's cemetery and was
largely attended.

. Briqrs•-Misses Rachel and Anna
Beatty spent their holidays in the for-
est city. R. McCool, Drumbo, paid a
-flying visit to Varna on the 21th, and
also drove to Clinton and Seaforth,
visiting relatives and friends. A good,
old fashioned calathumpian procession
-paraded the streets on the evening of
the 23rd, and made things lively for a
time. The crops look fine, hay and
fall wheat being exceptionally good;
ftuit promises a good crop. Charles
Reid shipped another, carload of cattle
to Toronto Tuesday. A very exciting
game of football was played between
-Varna and Bannockburn, Varna . boys
• winning by 1 to 0.

of Wingham, will preach on Sunday at
10.30 MD. and at 7 p.m. On Monday
evening a grand strawberry festival
will be held on the pata.onage lawn.
Tea will be served from to 8 o'clock,
followed by a plat form meeting in the
church, When speeches will be deliver-
ed by Revs. It, Bobbs, W. Penhall and
resident Ministers. Recitations will be
given by membere of the Sunday
School; music will be furnished by the
choir, Miss Newcombe, Jlinton, and
others. There was a large attendance
at the League meeting on Monday

trip to Toronto for the 21th, and re-
turned safely on Monday; he was a
