Orr Monday morning after the

horse belonging to Elijah Pease, of
the 6th line of Morris, started to de
the cake -walk on the sidewalk at
McPherson Bros.' store. The animal
fell on the sidewalk and, outside of
a strap being broken, no damage
was done,
A FORMER RESIDENT DEAD. -The
many friends of Mrs, J. G. Moser,
sr,. and mother of our townsmnnl
J. 0. Moser, will he surprised to
hear that the old lady passed away
on Sunday evening at Benmiller.
She was in her 85th year and her
death was due rather to old age
than to any specific ailment. The
deceased was born in Germany and
cause to this country with her par-
ents when about 20 years of age,
The family settled in Ellice town-
ship and Mrs. Moser retrained there
until the death of her husband 98
years ago. For about six years
after that she lived at Blyth, and
since then has matte her home with
her son-in-law, W. C. Durst, at Bea-
11110er. She is survived by a sister,
Mrs. D^ustedt in Ellice township,
and a brother, Christophe', in Full•
tutor' township. Six children sur
vive, John G. Moser, Blyth ; Rev,
Henry Moser, of Sherriton, IB, ;
Edward Moser, of Nepierville, 111, ;
Mrs. Waal Schwartz, of Colborne
twp, ; Mrs. Durst, of 13enmiller, and
Mrs, Wisner, of Sunnyside, Wash,

PRINCIPAL'S SALARY RAISED. -
The Clinton News -Record speaks of
a former citizen of Blyth whose
friends will be pleased to hear he is
appreciated in that town : "On
Thursday evening Inst the Model
School Board raised the salary of
Principal Hartley to $1000 and at

he is held in touch esteem both as a

noon at three o'clock a very pretty
quiet wedding was celebrated at
St. Cypriotes church, Toronto, when
Miss Laura Roe, daughter of h4'.
and Mrs. Wm. Roe, 488 Givens St.,
was united in marriage to Harry
Kiaende, son of Mrs, Kincade of' St.
Catharines, The ceremony was
performed by rue Rev, C. A. Seager.
The bride, who was given 1tway by
her father, wore a navy blue travel-
ling suit and large blue hat trim -
flied with poppies, and carried a
white bound prayer book. She was
attended by 911ss Alice Burge, who
was attired in dainty white dotted
muslin, carrying white earnatluns
Mr. Kineade was supported by his
brother, Alfred Kincede, lir, and
Mrs, Kincade left on the 4.15 train
for Blyth where they will spend the
honeymoon, and on their return will
take up their residence at 583 On-
tario street. The happy. couple are
visiting with S. II. and Mrs. Gidley,

AT twelve o'clock on Tuesday a
quiet wedding was celebrated at the
home of A. 13, Carr when his second
daughter, Aliso Alberta, was married
to Ernest Bender, a popultir mer•
chant of this place. The ceremony
was performed by Rev, W. 14, Coop-
er, The bride wore a dress of
white silk gluria and carried a bou-
quet of cream roses. When con-
gratulations were over a very
dainty luncheon was served. The
happy couple left on the 3 o'clock
C. P. It. trait for Toronto and other
points east. The bride went away
in 0 black tafetta silk dress with hat
to match, On their return they will
take up their residence on Drum-
mond street. They have the best

The pulpit of Trinity church will
be occupied next Sunday evening by
Mr:John Hartley, of Clinton, and on
the following Sunday nwrning and
evening by Air, Clarence Johnston,
of Clinton.
IRev, J. L. Small will take his
holidays dulling the next few weeks,
On the 26th of July and the 2nd of
August, Rev. Dr, McLean, of Gode-
rich, will occupy St. Andrew's pul-
pit. Dr. McLean 1s always welcome
in Blyth.

Rev. W. II. Cooper, pastor of the
Methodist church, preached on Sun
day morning front Gal, 6:2 ; 1'sa,
55:33 ; his subject being "Burdens."
He pointed out the burdens each one
must bear, the burdens we should
help others bear, and the burdens
we aro warranted in casting upon
the Lord, In the evening the sub-
ject was "Overcoming the World'
and the text was taken from John
16:33. Pointed illustrations were
used to show than Christ is an il-
lustrative example for us in our
efforts and also a present help in
enabling us to overcome the world.

Secretary of the Ontario Branch of
the Dominlcn Temperance Alliance,

He will preach in the Presbyterian
