of a committee being appointed to
make preparations for the reception to
tow volunteer, Private A. B Webb.
From the following letter we have re-
ceived, we learn that it will be some
time before our soldier will be back
amongst us :-
Berate Fabrioken,
Transvaal, South Africa,
Sept. 201h, 1900.
DEAR Sni.-No doubt you are IIDEi0118 to
hear news from me. I guess you will be
looking for me to come home with this first
lot, but A and B companies are remain -
fig till the Annexation • Ceremony takes
p ace in Pretoria; We are just nine miles
f om Pretoria and I thought it only my
duty as one of B Company to stay tilt the
end, as I have seen it all so far and I in-
tend to see the grand final. As I am the
only one from the town, I think also for
the sake of Clinton I will stay, as it is only
a matter of a few weeks et the most; we
are going to England to take part in a par-
er% of the returned troops to*be held before
the Queen and I think it will amply repay
me to see it through. It is hard to aee so
many of ths boys go home„ands leave us
here, but it won't be long as wet expeot to
be in Canada by the end of November at
the outside. I want °limit:in to hold up her
own with any town in Canada and say she
had a soldier and volunteer who stuck it to
the end for ite glory, and honor and eo it
will remember its one volunteer
