GREAT YIELD. -One day last Week
'Gilbert Mair threshed on the farm of
Joseph Izzerd, and from a piece of land
not much more than an pare in extent,
cleaned up 80 bushels of beardless bar-
ley. From seven acres of fall wheat
they also procured about 2.50 buehels of
beautiful .grain. At Edward Wise's,
Mr Cole threshed out the product of 12
flares, which yielded an average of 374
bushels to the acre, by tneamiredient;
when this grain was standing, it was

WELL KEPT.!-- 'There • are m•tny
pretty farms in Goderich township,
and many that give evidence uf
and prosperity, as well as care and at-
tention on the part of the owner. One
of these worthy of mention is the farm
of•John Young, on the corner of the
cot line and the 4th come' which is well
kept, and tidy. One feature that strikes
the este very favorably is the fact that
his barns are all painted, giving them
a much better appearance than the
average unpainted barn. There is not
only an object lesson in this, but a sug-
gestion that others could profitably act
upon. A barn that is painted lasts
longer than one thateis not; the lumber
,preseryed frpm the .weather. In
some portions of Ontario it is the rule
to paint barns -in Huron it seems to
be the excention. Mr Young gives
