law, the council decided to add to the
number of divisions, which will neces-
sitate an entirely different division of

matter, no definito'. arrangement was
arrived at. 'The subject Will betaken
up again at the next meeting. At the
February meeting a, petition was pre-
sented praying: that in view of the
widespread destruction of fruit ttees
from the spread of black loot and oth-
er kindred diseases, • a suitable person
to act as insoecter of fruit trees in the
township beappointed, as provided for
by the Yellows and Black Knot Act.
After considering the tnatter, iti was
decided to grant the prayer of the Pe-
tition; atd Wm. Copp, Seaforth, was
appointed to fill the oftle-e, at a small
salary, viz., $10 per annum. . As Mr
Copp is an -expert, and deeply inter-
ested in the fruit line, his appointment
will no doubt be productive of much
good. A. few small accounts i Were
passed, amountine to $71.50; The next
meeting Tvill be held in Daly's halt on

March 30th, a. meeting of those inter-
ested in the game of football was held
in the barber shop, fur the put pose. of
te 'organizing for the Benson of 1900. A
chairman was appointed and the fol-
lowing officers elected: -Pres., D. E.
Munro; Vice. Pres„ Dr. Ross; Ca,ptaito,
W. Ferguson; Sec. Treas., W. Mole,
Committees were appointed for the
purpoae of securing grounds, ordering
outfits etc. It was also decided that
there should be practice on Wednesday
and Saturday nights of each week.
