lambs offered for sale at the East End Abbat-
toir to -day. The butchers were present in eon-,

away to the great beyond. Wold was
received here last week at the death of
the wife of the late W. O. Coldwell,
which took place at the residence of
her daughter, Mrs (Dr,) Farncomb, of
Newcastle. It will be rememberec1.
that at the sudden death of Mr Cold -
well some three months ago Mrs Cold -
well disposed of her property here, and
went to live with her daughter at New-
castle. But Providence willed she
was not to enjoy this home long. Her
husband predeceased her by just three
months. Thus two are taken from our
midst who were old residents and high-
ly respected in every sense of the
word. She was buried at Newcastle
beside her husband. Much sympathy
is felt here for (he sorrowing family,
as they are indeed 'passing through
deep waters.

took place twit Wednesday evening at
the residence of Mr James Johns, Var-
na, when his daughter Anna was un-
ited in the .bonds of matrimony to dr
Harry Hutchison, of Gaderich town-
ship. Rex Mr Jennings, Bayfield. tied'
the nuptial knot good and fast. The
bride was the recipient of a number Of
useful and valuable. presents. The
happy- couple left that evening for
their horse on the Bayfield line. We

DEATH OF A PIONEER. -With deep
..regi et we notice the death of James
Clark, which occured at his home,
Claremont Farm, Friday morning,
after an illness of several months. Mr
Clark ceme•to Colborne irr1834, with
his father, the late D. Clark. In Scot-
land he married his wife, Henrietta
Fordyce, who survives . hint. After
coming to Canada he resided for eome
time near Dundas. Leaving there, he
settled on his farm in 1862. We think
We can say he was one of the first in
Colborne to cut a sheaf with the sickle,
and among the first to see grain cut
with a binder, .
