Miss Eva Ben, daughter of Mr.
William Bell, liveryinen, has been a
patient in the London hospital for the
past month and on Monday had an
operation ; performed. She came
through it nicely and is now as well
as greed be expected. If the improve-
ment continues she will he able to re-
turn home ere very long. Mr. Bell was
in the hospital while the operation was
being performed.

At last after three weeks wandering
and meandering I have arrived qpce
more in my present winter's quarters.
Perhaps 1 do feel a little importent,
but gentle reader it must not. be rittri-
bitted to self•conceit. It is eneirely due
to sea -air and the gerieral importance
of the places I have vieited.
X spent a few days home—"Hortie
Sweet Home; '1 but mine wasn't very
sweet as the cook was not overly clean.
Still it was home. •
I was a great deal surprised when I
arrived in lartytield, "my piesent quar-
ters," to see a notice to the effect that
010 was offeeed by the town council for
information that would lead to the
conviction of the patty or parties
guilty of theft.
To say that we were surprised, would
be putting it mildly. We were dumb-
founded to think that in a town of
witch note as ours such a condition of
affairs prevailed. All credit is due to
the reeve and council Inc their action
in behalf of justic,e and the peace of the
population.
Just think of it 1 WA ui Methodist,
Presbyterian and Anglican church, the
Gospel still has a mission in our midst.
One thing is certain, some party has

' Stewart's death -bis brother-in-law, Mr.
James Macfarlane also joined the great

Mr.Macfarlane was born in Perthshire,
Scotland, and came to this county at
an varly age. He was a resident of
Stanley for a . great ineny years and
became one -of its most widely known
ad respected farmers. He merle a

Angus cattle, Shropshire sheep and
Clydesdale horses. Ile imported
nearly all. his stock and -commanded
a high price for their progeny. He
exhibited freely at Fall Fairs: and woo

United States and Canada Mr. Mae-
farlane was very ill a few months ago
and had 'rebovered to such an extent
