THE hockey boys went to Base-' sell on Monday and succeeded le defeating that team again by a score of 7.5. Quite a few weut along to witness the game. Campbell, ON Tuesday morning of this week Mrs, J, G. Moser had the misfortune to tall oil' a step -ladder and break her left arm at the wrist and also cut her face up. AL's. Moser will now have to take an enforced holi- day, and up to the bine of going to press is progressing its favorably as possible. We all hope she will soon be able to do her accustomed duties. Nally, who is now in possession of Newbridge general store, will move his honsehold effects front Blyth when the sleighing improves. Mrs. McNally and family are now in Newbridge, residing with her moth- er, Mrs. Rinn. And under the New- bridge heading :—Mr, and Mrs. Mc- Nally, our new merchant and his wife, are duly initiated in their new business. As they are both very cheerful foal obliging in their man- ner, they ought to do well. Their many friends extend to them a hearty welcome and wish Client abundant success in their business. WELL I a t0tatn PttooRAu.—The Scotch concert given in Itdustry Hall on Monday evening afforded a very pleasant few hours to lovers of Scottish song and story. Owing to an accident, Miss Newcombe, the 'cellist and pianist, was unable cc appear, and Mise Jean McLaughlin, of Brussels, acted as accompanist f01' the company. Gavin Spence, who directs the program, gave as his songs, "Hundred Pipers," "Hielaud Rory," "Jessie's Dream," "Hood Ayes" and "Kinicrankie," and sup. pletnonted the program with Scotch etot'ies, incidents of travel and ex- planatory notes as to the various numbers on the program. Mies Nannie Strachan, well denominated the Scottish Nigthiogale, who was born in Oailshiels, Scotland, is a pupil of Herr Albert 13. Back and is qualified to sing in English, French, German and Italian, She made friends from her first number, "Scottish Blue Bells," and during the evening sang with equally gond effect, "Comin' tiro' the rye," "Whistle and I'll come tae ye my lad," ",Tock o' hlazledan," Good bye," and "Caller Iierrin'," in chanter costume. Mise Strachan and Mr. Spence gave two well-known duetts, "Crooked Bawbee" and "When ye gang awa' Jamie." "Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem brought the enjoyable program to t close. GOLDEN WEnciNn,—The follow- ing from the Listowel Banner refers to the golden wedding anniversary of the parents of Dr. G. E. Long : "Mr, and Mrs. George Long coie- hrated the jubilee of their marriage at their home in Listowel on Monday evening, February 3rd, 1008, They were joined together in the bonds of holy matrimony at East Gwillim- bury, Ont,, by the Rev. ;John Foster on February tad, 1858. This date falling upon Sunday this year, the function was pustponed until Mon. day. There were present forty guests, representing 'Toronto, Pal nherston, Moorefield, Wallace at d other piiints. Some of their friends, including their son, Geo. E. Long, D. D. S., of Blyth, were prevented cooling by the snow blockade. To those who were present—brothers and their families, children, grand- ehildren and ono greet grandchild— he ceremonies were memorable and oyous. The program of addresses, presentations and devotions was un- der the direction of the pastor of the Methodist Church, Rev, D. N. lifc. Camas. The four daughters of Air, and Mrs. Lon; presented them with a beautiful Morris chair. 'Their tw o s roe were represented by a gold watch and chain, while the grand- children spoke their gond wishes through a costly anti tare park r amp, Mr, Long replied in a mutt nteresting address, He paid a warm and worthy tribute to his faithful and Christian wife of fifty year's, and to his affectionate and lutiful children.
