cently :—

The announcement of the death
of Mr, Kelly was a great shock to
this community, especially when
the tragedy was made known, Cbl
the 17th inst. et his home in Vaughn,
La,, he was requested to act as Boor
manager and peace officer at tt hall
or entertainment given under 1110
auspices ut the hest element of that
community. During the entertain-
ment one Dan Josey began a dis-
turbance with one of the other Boor
managers, whereupon 1(01137 re•
nionstrated with 11111111110 in a gentle
and courteous manner induced him
to leave the building, at the same
time accompanying hint to the foot
of the stairs leading to the public
hall wherein the entertainment was
being held. On reaching this point,
without a 113 warning, Josey pulled
a pistol which he had concealed on
his person, and Bred three shots in
rapid succession, all of diem taking
effect 111 the holy of his unsuspecting
victim, and the brave and chival.

the crowd of excited bystanders and

The Orangemen of South Huron
have decided to celebrate the Battle
of the Boyne on July 13th at Gode-
rich, the famous and pretty county
town of Huron, and the Orangemen
of Gut1e1'ich have the matter well in
hand. They propose to make the
event a monster, tip-to•date, old-
time Orange celebration, in the
prettiest and healthiest town in
Canada, and will have the assist-
ance of the citizens generally, With
the G. T, lt, and its convenient in-
tersections, and the opening of the
C. 1'. it, front Guelph, as Hell as the
much improved boat service, and
the expectation of chartering the
steel steatites Greyhound, of the
White Star Line, from Detroit, and
a guarantee et a good passenger list

there is a dock and 14 feet of water,

compelled the postponement of the
On tail() Horse Breeders' Sltow for a
fortnight. instead of being held tis
arranged hi St, Lawrence Arena on
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
of this week, the show will not now
be held until the 261(1, 27th and
28th inst. The Horse Society Meet-
ings will, however, take place as
previously announced, namely, Can-
adian Pony Society, Tuesday even-

morning ; horse -men's banquet,
