HILL? -Parkhill Gazette -Review :-
Reading the account of the recent
theatre and concert fires reminds
us that wo use coal oil lamps for
foot lights in Parkhill. That when
we have a moving picture show,
the machine is between the audience
and he only means of exit, That
it an explosion occurred the audience
would be compelled to pass the fire
to reaeh the exits. That, in a
panic, a Parkhill crowd would act

JAMES CAMPBELL, Clerk,
just like any other crowd, That
wo have no fire escapes on any of
our public 'buildings, That Park-
hill has as yet escapes a horror of
this kind, and that we seem to take
it for granted that some kind of
special Providence watehes over us
and protects us, despite our look of
precaution.
TH11 Durham Chronicle of last
week refers to the moving pictures
that come to Lldustry Hall on Fri-
day evening :-W. II. Spears gave
a moving pictnre show here on Fri.
day night last, The nttendaree was
fairly good and the pictures were
well thrown on the screen. The
machine was one of the steadiest we
have seen, and there is little or none
of the flickering so often witnessed.
A full explanation of the different
scenes would add to the interest of
the entertainment, but Mr, Spears Is
modest and avoids public speaking,
The Counterfeiters and Kathleen
Mavourneen were good numbers,
West Huron Liberals.
A meeting of the West Ituron
Liberal Association was held at
Goderleh last Friday for the purpose
of selecting it candidate to carry the
Liberal standard at the next Pro-
vincial elections, Representatives
from nearly alt of the divisions in
the riding were present, and the
meeting was most enthusiastic.
M. G. Cajneron, M. P. P., in a
spirited address announced that
should his name appear for nomina-
tion he regretted his inability to
stand for election.
Twu prominent Liberals of the
riding were nominated -J. T. Cur.
rie, of East Wawanosh, and Wm,
Proudfoot, K. C., of Goderich-and
the ballot resulted in the choice of
Mr. Proudfoot, and subsequently on
the motion of Mr. Currie, the choice
was made unanimous.
Many prominent Liberals ad-
dressed the tneeting, among them
being Jacob Kellerman, Deputy
Reeve of Stephen, Liberal condi.
date for South Huron for the Legis-
lature, and Robert Holmes, the Lib.
eral candidate for West Huron for
the House of Commons,
