Judge Woods had but a light docket
at the division court on Tuesday last,
says the Dresden Times, but one case
came up before him and be settled it in
a =inner, apparently very satisfaetcry
to the respondent and the spectators
who. had gathered to hear the trial. 11
Sias the case of Gates vs. Mr ia Elizabeth
Horning. ' According to the evidence
adduoed at the trial, somewhere about
six years ago Gates bad called on Mrs.
Horning and endeavored to persuade
her to -buy an organ. She refused hi
buy.. Nevertbeless the -agent brought
an organ to her house• and left it there
refusing to take it awayaind seoured from
Mrs. llornieg what she supposed to be
receipts for the organ, but which really
were agreements to pay for it. On the
day following that on which the organ
was left IVIrs. Horning's son wrote the
agent asking to come and take the
organ away as his mother did not wantit.
To this request no attention was paid
and Mrs. Horning locked the organ up
in a room where it remained unused for
three years or more. Then Mrs, Bern:,
ing's neighbors suggested that she allow
it to be used, saying it might as well be
in use as 'laying there Idle. Thus for the
past three years it has been in me
Judge Woods renderedjudgment againat
the plaintiff Gates with costs. The
Judge held that no Wingate had been
made and took occasion to severely de-
nounce the niethods pursued by Gates
to force an organ on Mrs. Horning, an
uneducated woman who did not under-
stand busineas niethods. The outcome
of this case abould be a warning to
agents against attempting similar meth-
ods. Is should also be a warning to peo-
ple not to sign papers, the purpose of
which they are not well aware.

THE MAN IN TOWN.
Thera is a man in this toWn.
Who makes Baskets, square and round;
He.can make you one, or make you two •
And make you a dozen if they will do.
-ThsYSOY he is blind, but you see . .
Ile can make you a basket whore e're you be;
If you leave your orders when you need -
You will never regret yen did the deed.
Children like him because he makes

He Mends old basketel and old chairs
And guarantees that they will wear.
