the stage awaiting the Revival of the
"Spirit of Christmas," represented by

with theirfirst chorus, "'Tis the Christ-

cantata was superintended by Mr.,

mention for the pains he took in per-

add he had clever subjects to take up
the cantata. The young ladies, "The
Spirit of Christmas," Miss Tye, and the
"Messengers of Jesus" looked lovely in
their Delsarte costume, decoeated with
their several symbols.Miss Naftel

came the drill ef. the "British . Gren-

plenatory address from the chairman.
When the curtain rose there stood
sixteen gellantsoldiers of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria ready with .their ac-
coutrements to do battle, and they
looked so peetty and earnest, with
helmet, evert and rifle, headed by their
leader, little Reggie Platt. Captain
'Dudley Holmes, their drill instruetor,
camp forward and put them through
their facings. ,"Present arms I" was
followed as evicklyas spoken, "Ground
arms l" and down wont the rifles with
military thud, and all through the
drill the marching was perfect.' The
singing by the soldiers of the Queen
was much admired in' ''The Bretieh
