Mt. H. WETTSTEM, a well-known,

There is a standard joke in the var-
iety Theaters, so often told that it has
come to have it familial, sound to the
ears of patrons, concerning a remark
made by a city !nail who heard that,
eggs had gone down to it cent apiece.
"i don't see how the hens can do it,
for that price." Notwithstanding tine
reduction in the price of eggs, and
the almost unlimited supply of them in
all countries that have developed their
agg''rr•icultural resources, says an ex-
chlange, it Is a fact that the trade in
eggs, their exportation from one
country to another has become a
targe iteul of iuternation tJ oontrneree,
its some recent figut'es slow. The
case of Denmark is in point. Dell-
inark's trade in eggs' with foreign
countries, chiefly with England and
Scotland, has grown enormously,
Twenty years ago the annual Danish
export of eggs was e'U,t1tFU; now it is
reckoned at 110,030,C,t). In the same
tveviod the importation of eggs into
.England has increased telnfuld, but

5tv,00,0(l) eggs in a year, chiefly to
Austria And Germany. The dairymen
of the United Suites depend chiefly on
the enormous home market, and they
have rivals in the export of American
eggs in the Canadians, Canada rank-
ing next to France and Italy, and -
ahead of Denmark and Holland as an
egg exporting country. Canada. ex-
ports to. other countries :;ttJ,(,4 J,I' J
oggs in it year. Fot the fiscal year of
i6 -Z the treasaty figures give as the
total exports of American eggs to
foreign countries 151,CIA dozen, which
is equivalent to 1,812,( A eggs. In the
fiscal year 18:3, however, the total
exportations of American eggs increas-
ed to 3Gc3,t. J dozen, or eggs, it
little more than tivice as much. The
export figures for this year indicate a
still further increase, and I, market for
American eggs is likely, therefore, to
be secured in what the political cam-
paign orators are accustomed to call,
somewhat vaguely, the near future.
It is it somewhat curious fact that the
weight of eggs is materially larger in
northern than in 'southern climates.
Canadian eggs for instance are heavier
than those sbipped from the United
States, and eggs in the; northern states
of this country are heavier than those
from the south.
Canadian Women Consume
Millions of Packets.
Millions of packages of Dianiond
Dyes are used by the -women of C:an-
tda, every year. The sale of these
household friends is increasing so feast
that at times the manufacturers have
difficulty in filling the orders that pour
in from the wholesale and retail trade.
The enormous and fast increasing
consumption of Diamond dyes indi-
cates immense popularity; due of
course to quality, strength, brilliancy
and fastness of colors.
Diamond Dyes give colors that will
last till the materials are worn out.
Every color is true to name, the results
:are always pleasing and satisfactory,
and they are sold at the samo price as
the common imitation dyes.
When buying package dyes for home
dyeing see that your, aealev gives you
the Diamond Dyes, the only guar•an•
teed dyes in the world, the only colors
that give you value for your money
and time.

But when he is overtaken by an. ill-

to locate, which see.nns to affect half it
dozen different parts of leis body -at
once, so that he cannot say, "It is
here," or "it is there," he is justified in
apprehei.ding soluethingprukouud and
serious. No wonder that under these
circumstances Mr. Boortuan could nest
tell what had come over hint.
"In March, ISM," so runs his short
account of it, "illy health began to fail.
1 felt low, weak, and had no strength
or energy, 11'hat had conte oeer lire I
could riot tell.
"I had a foul, horrid taste in my
mouth, and no appetite, As soon as I
had eaten the food lay oil my chest
like lead. I was constantlyspitting up
a gaseous, sour fluid, and something
would rise in my throat enough to
choke ate.
"I was much troubled with palpita-
tion ; toy heart would thumpaud throb
until I could scarcely hear it, and I had
often to sit up in tied to ease the pain.
1 gradually got worse and worse until
I was in a shocking, state of weakneas."
(If a person under such circumstan-
ces were to make up his mind he had
what is called "heart disease," who
could point the finger of ridicule at
him for thinking so? If he were wor-
red with apprehensions of sudden death
frena that, cause, are you the than to
say he was afraid of uothing? Not
you, nor anybody else.' And yet—
But let's have the rest of the letter.)
"I could hardly drag one leg before
the other," continues Air. Boorman,
..and was so nervous that the least
thing would startle one.
"I consulted a doctor, but, his wedi-
citles did me noood, and in October
(1891) I went to Bartholomew's Hospi-
tal, but, was no better for their treat-
ment. I afterwards went, to Bethnal
Careen Hospital, but with the samiu re-
sult. 1 had now got so low and weak
that I despaired of ever getting better,
and thought I was in ra consumption.
"In January, 1802, I read of cases like
mine having been cured by Mother-
Seigel's Curative Syrup. I gut a bottle
of this medicine from lN..lr, Lucas, cheirt-
ist, Tahnot Road, and after- taking it I
found relief. I continued taking it and
in it. rnonth felt quite a different man.
"I could eat and the food gave me
no pain ; and slowly I gained strength.
By-and-by I wags well and strong as
ever, and have since kept in good
health, Mother Seigel's Syrup has
saved my life, and 1 wish others to
know of it. You can publish this
staterneut and refer any one to me.
(Signed) William Boorman, 61, Perry
Street, Northampton, October 2rd,
1895."
What, then, was it that came over
Mr. Boorman? In the light of the re-
sult, and the manner of the cure, I
answer without besitation—It was the
dark foreshadow of the most common
rand the most dangerous disease known --
indigestion, dyspepsia; the collo^se of
the body's power to keen itserf it-);
the slipping from under Ilim of tad
very foundation stones of his vitality,
That was what had come over him.
Then why didn't he recognize it?
Why didn't the doctor seem to recog-
nize it? Whv couldn't they "tell"
what it was? f3ecaaise itis the Prince
of Deception, the counterfeit of all dis-
eases outwr.rdly, and the reality of all
diseases inwardly. Because, having one
nature, it has a hundred shiftingsymp-
toms. Its roots are in the stomac.l,
and its branches run from head to
heel.
When you feel the vague trouble
that came over Mr. Boorman, recall
these words and take Mother Seigel's
Syrup without waiting to wonder what
all$ you.
