OBSFRYI: THE LAW.—Mr. Editor,—
Sir,-Aecording to law it is the duty of
every citizen to clean off the sidewalk
frouting his or her property within 21
hours. While quite it number do so,
many do not and leave the snow on the
walks for a long time. Then an axe is
used and the walk destroyed. There
are always a number of idle people in
town during the winter months who
would be glad to have something to do.
Ten cents a lot for cleaning off the
walks would bring many a poor man
fair wages when there is nothing
else doing. A great many taxpayers
overlook the fact that through neglect
in this respect they ]care themselves
liable as well as the town in case of ac-
liable
The Inspec=
for should see to it that the law is
observed, and in accordance therewith
also that the walkafronting vacant lots
are {rept free frUm snow. -Yours, W.

leavevs. We told -him. we fully appreciate such 'loyalty and -hat
tbare were many more just like hint, it is just such people that
make it pleasant for business men. Nowadays too many people
are too easily lead away by all sorts of licticrous diad false Ad-
vertisements, they are constantly going from one to the other --
never satisfied, always gqomplatning. But the farmer wo refer to,
like many more, to intglligent enough to know that ha is being
well treated, and the confidence he enjoys in the men lie does his
business with is oqually reciprocated. In fact, he is; generally
the man who doeo get the snaps that are going nowadays, In
these days of keen competition no one can seek after big profits,
the, bigger the Business, the bigger the Buying, the better tete
system, the lesser the profits. The confidence we enjoy b} the
people of Clinton and surrounding country liar built up at Business
that, means both of these. In our preparations for Spring all the
newest and up-to-date methods will be applied in our new store
in the Coats' Block which is as we said last week, the biggest

tario to -day. If you are not a customer be one.
We have had a great many calling last week just PRICING
Furs. We have always told our customers that when the 15th
of March came around, the time we pack thein, we would talre
ridiculous prices rather than pack them away, and these people
were hoping we would take them now. Well, ave are thinking
and planning for Spring Business and we will take now -the prices
ive ask when putting them away. CQid weather is ahead of as
yet and this offer should clear them all out.

Told us last week that he arld all his family of boys liad bought
Clothes Irom us for over 19 years and never had one lesson to
Clothing and Furnishing Establishment doing business in On-
tario to -day.
