STEAMER GREYHOUND AT GODE-
RICH,— In connection with the oil
Mal opening of the Guelph & Gode-
rich Railway and the demonstration
to be held at Gi'derich on Thursday,
Sept. 12th, the . Musical Societies of
Guelph and Goderich have arranged
with the White Star Line, of De.
troit, to send their magnificent new
steel steamer Greyhound to Goderich
to run excursions on Lake Huron
during the day. This splendid
steamer with a capacity for 3000
people will run three trips on the
lake on the 12th, the first starting
after the arrival of the trains front
Guelph. There will be a trip in the
afternoon with music by the Guelph
Musical Society's band, and one in
the evening when the 33rd Regi.
stent l3and, of Goderich, will play.
The Greyhound is one of the finest
excursion boats on the continent and
will make a big attraction for the
Goderich celebration, The Grey-
hound is bringing an excursion from
Detroit to Goderich leaving Detroit
Wednesday morning, Sept. llth,and
on return trip will leave Goderich
on Saturday, September 14th, after
arrival of the morning trains from
Guelph and Stratford.

IV 0110 was received here yester-
day afternoon that Mrs, Alex. Mc -
Ewan, of Hallett, and her mother,
Mrs, Shannahar, of McKillop, were
asphyxiated in a hotel in Toronto
sometime during Tuesday night by
the gas not being turned out. It is
said that the two husbands were
sleeping In another room and went
to the bedroom in the morning but
received no answer ; when the dour
was broke in they found their wives
had passed away. As we go to
press no further word had been
received but full particulars will be
given next week.
OsrruARY.—From the Hunter
Herald, of Hunter, N. D., of August
29th, we take the following item
which refers to a former resident of
this town ; "Id, W. Mitchell was
horn if) the County Chbvin, Ireland,
on Sept, 23rd, 1831 and died at his
home at Hunter, N. D., August 27,
1907. On July 13th, '44, ho emi-
grated to Canada and settled': at
Brampton in '54, from thence he
moved to Blyth in '62 where he re.
maned until June, '86, when he
cane to Hunter which has since
been his home, Soon after he came
to Hunter he established and built
up a flearishing harness business
which he continued until ill health
compelled Min to sell out in Jaen-
itry, 1897. For several years he
had been in very poor health and his
death had been hourly expected for
the past six months, Reis survived
by it wife, three sons, ono daughter,
one sister in Michigan and it brother
in Ontario. The funeral will be held
at 2.30 on Friday afternoon from
the Presbyterian church.” Mr. Alit-
chell kept store where A. Taylor
now has his store and was well
known by the older citizens of the
town.
