day evening and the Rpt&tors were
treated to a game iii that re-
sembled the kid hive used to
play when we`a n to school. The
131yth team—vv(si ; of 91cAt•ter and
Somers who t a their usual game,
striking out tY`Alell—were off color
to a man, as seven runs for Gode-
rich in the 2nd innings will testify.
The I keSide boys played fairly well
in the' field but were unable to hit
the. benders served up by McArter,
but that was not necessary as errors
were so numerous that they got 12
runs when they only earned 2. Unl-
pires Robinson and Edwards hand-
led the game, but we didn't hear of
either of thein getting tempting off-
ers from the big leagues.
The lack of practice told on our
boys sadly. We have a team here
gond enough to beat any team in the
county, but without practice no team
can play—"Practice makes perfec-
tion, and perfection wins games."

Blyth vs. Belgrave.
A good game was played on the
Agricultural Part between the
Juniors of Blyth and Belgrave.
Scandrett started to pitch for the
visitors but retired after the fist
innings in favor of Henry, who
struclt out 6 of the Blyth players,
Taman, who did the pitching for the
home team struck out 3 men. The
locals worked off two double plays
In quick style that would put the
seniors to shame. Jas. McCallum,
of Belgrave, was umpire and some
of his decisions were a little off color
as was the work of the umpire who
looked after the fouls, Following is

teams [—

Are You in Business
For Business ?
H you had an opportunity of addressing 1,000 people in a hall
with the privilege of delivering an address on ,your business and the
wares you still, you would be apt to make 'that address as interest-
ing as possible, so that your hearers would listen and you profit by
it. It is just the same with an advertisement in THE STANDARD,
You have the privilege of talking every creel( to hundreds of people
and if you are selling honest goods and tell the people about them
in a straightforward [Wanner yon cannot avoid reaping a benefit.
We stand ready and willing at all tirnes to assist our patrons in
preparing their advertisements—yes, give them assistance that
would cost from 55 to 520 if a city advertising expert wereconsult-
d—and do it free of charge, But bear in [Hind that no man can
get out as good an advertisement for your business as you can,
You know all the little details, the goods you bought at a bargain,
and all that, Just drop in and have a talk about it.
