met on Friday evening and elected Dr.
Lindsay president and Mr. A.. W. Rub-

resignation and removal of Messrs. H.
V. Holmes and J. A. Jackson. A large

inson, of Oakville. Mr. Robinson was
for many years a member of the firm of
Robinson Bros]., dry goods merchants,
Oakville, and a month ago sold out his
interests to his brother. He is now

openipg and hearing of the smart little
town of Blyth took a run up to see it.
He was favorably impressed with what
he saw and may purchase a business

—Rev. A,. McLean left on Tuesday
morning for Woodstock, where he ac-
t nded the annual meeting of the Synod
of Hamilton and London. On Tuesday
evening he left for ,(iiegstot, and yes-
terday the degree of doctor of divinity
was conferred upon him at the 62nd
convocation of Queen's university. For

—'rhe London conference will convene
in the Wingltam Methodist church the
first week in June, The stationing
committee will commence its work on
Tuesday, ,Juno 2nd, so as to have the
first draft of stations ready for opening
of conference on 'Thursday morning.
The stationing committee is composed
of the chairmen of districts and one
other minister from each district elected
by ballot at the May district meeting.

STANDARD)-4'here was a volcanic ex-
plosion at Frank. Alberta, about four
o'clock this morning. It is reported 75
people were killed. "The wires are down
east of Frank and the line is reported
to be covered for a utile and a half east
from 10 to 80 feet in depth.
