Vegetable Compound.
" In diseases that come to women only,
as a rule, the doctor is called in, some-
times several doctors, but still matters
go from bad to worse; but I have
never kr..e•n of a case of female weak -
nese whioh was not helped when
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
Compound was used faithfully. For
young women who are subject to
headaches, backache, irregular or pain-
ful periods, and nervous attacks due to
the severe strain on the system by
some organic trouble, and for women
of advanced wears In the most trying
time of life, it serves to correct every
trouble and restore a healthy action of
all organa of the body.
" Lydia E.Ptnkham'sV egetable

medicine, which covers years, I have
found nothing to equal It and al-

Oddly enough, absinthe first 041111

war in Algiers from 1811 to 1847
the French sohllers n'rre advised by
regimental doctors to 11(1.1 a little
absinthe with their wine a5 a febri-
fuge. On their return to France they
brought the habit til absinthe drink-
ing with them, and the custom has
BOW 1e00m11• HO widely dlsoentlttuted
throughout all classes of society as
to have become a grave national
evil.
I1 le the effect rather than the
taste of absinthe 014(1)14 is reepwnsl-
ble for 11,14 high favor with the
French. Its tneto is not nice, and
only the hardened absinthe drinkers
take it neat. The usual addendum Is
either syrup (gomme as the French
cull it), or loaf sugar, which le planed
upon a perfor41tel spawn across the
glass and melte' slowly into the
drink by pouring water, drop by drop,
on to lt.
Even with these additions absinthe
always has the medicinal trate of
cough mixture or paregoric, and it
leaves an after taste upon the tongue.
